ESPN gives Oswalt respect in their new under 25 pitchers report.

    Roy Oswalt, RHP, Astros
    Age: 25
    2002 stats: 202 IP, 18-6, 50 BB, 174 SO, 2.85 ERA

Stands just 6-feet, but other than his height there is nothing small about Oswalt. Is an amazing 32-9 over the last two years and don't forget he didn't join the Astros' starting rotation until June of last year. Like Miller has been dominant in the second half, going 9-1 with a 2.07 ERA and a .219 batting average against in 11 starts. Is already the Astros' ace and should be for the next decade or so.

    Prediction: Future Cy Young winner.

The only other Future Cy Young winners predicted were Zito and Prior.

    Here is the article: http://espn.go.com/mlb/s/2002/0905/1427763.html

The only Red Sox pitcher mentioned was Casey Fossum. :(

Oswalt should win a Cy Young or two in his career. Some people have even thrown his name around this year.

I hope that maybe Carlos Hernandez can grab one too!

    Here's to the future.

Unless Drayton doesn't keep them. :(

In a shameless, self-centered attempt at making myself seem important, I would like to point out that I was on the same 3-man starting pitching rotation as Casey Fossum on our high school baseball team in Waco. Oh yeah, I'm the man.

    :D

This is from the ESPN power rankings for this week:

Mark it down: Roy Oswalt will win the NL Cy Young next year

I like the sound of that.

Wow, I like our rotation, I think next year we can compare favorably with Oakland's trio of Zito, Mulder, and Hudson. Actually, I feel our 3 guys are better. Saarloos and Munro have done well, there's a young dominican in AA who looks very good too. Hopefully, if we don't have have any good players coming up to replace them, when Biggio and Bagwell retire, we will actually sign some marquee free agents.

Nice to see three 'Stros make that list. I dunno how they put Jake Peavy and Brett Myers on there and left off Oliver Perez and Vicente Padilla. Padilla was an All-Star this season.

Padilla is on the list and, assuming you meant Odalis Perez and not Oliver Perez, he is on the list as well.

Oh okay I missed Padilla on there, sorry bout that. No I meant Oliver Perez with the Padres. He's considered just as good as if not better than Peavy.

i'm pretty sure they had that same comment this time last year and he's responded with cy young type numbers. i wouldn't be surprised if he picks up 2 or 3 of them in his career.

on another note, this mark prior hype is getting way, way too big for me.

oswalt better be win it. It feels so good to have a great pitcher on our team. Its to bad Elarton and Lima couldn't repeat their 20 game win seasons.

And hernandez is proving to be quit good. and dotel as well. I'm starting to wonder if we have the best core of young pitchers in baseball. If we do we have a bright future. But bagwell, and biggio are gonna be gone by them, we need fire power.

Actually, I am pretty sure the most wins Elarton ever got in a season was 17.

I have seen Oliver Perez pitch in person and he is pretty good. He can't hit worth a crap though. Even John Patterson can strike him out ;).
