The first person I knew about the NBA was MJ since I was constantly moved to different countries as a child. He didn't get me hooked on basketball though, it was simply because I started playing it by myself as I grew older. Then I became a fan of the game and it just so happen that Dream was playing. In short: no one, really...
i believe the kobe hate is based on the laker rivalry with the rockets. the rivalry has been around for along time. you're fine dude. as long as you like the rockets more than the lakers. i grew up in houston so those were my favorite guys. however, doesn't mean i didn't admire the legends like bird and magic. i believe the tmac fan knows that kobe is better but chooses not to support kobe for whatever reason. i mean, it is quite clear that kobe is better. they both seem like they are arrogant people. not humble like Hakeem. people in portland knew michael jordan was better than drexler, but they root for drexler. just like the people in chicago know that the hakeem is better than their entire front line.
Cool to see someone else from Perth here... Started following (and seriously playing) basketball in '87 so James Crawford was the 1st guy I was a fan of. Got into the NBA around '89 and was a Jordan guy then (and ever since). My 1st memories are of the playoff series against the Pistons in '89 & '90. It was tough to follow the NBA then, with just final scores in the newspaper and 1 late night game a week on ABC. I'm surprised how little Jordan has come up in this thread.
Elvin Hayes is the reason i am a Rocket fan. My all time favorite player is probably Dave Twardzik. He is from my hometown and used to date my sister!!!!
Patrick Ewing, Hakeem Olajuwan, and John Starks, of course. I'm a real sucker for defensively oriented clubs with dominant centers. Starks, because he was the ultimate underdog, starting out as a grocery bagger, played his heart out every game, was a pain in Jordan's neck, and, most respectfully of all, refused to play for the Bulls when he was traded there. That's loyalty.
There were a few players that always made me watch growing up Hakeem, Jordan, Rodman, Barkley Then later: Reggie Miller, Steve Francis by the time the rockets traded for t-mac he was basically my favorite player. So I guess T-Mac too.
Shaq deserved that MVP over Allen Iverson. They just gave it to Iverson because he was the in thing. He won because he scored. Not because of any other reason. He led the Sixers to the finals sure. But even that sixers team was better than any team save the 07 Rockets, that T-Mac has been a part off. T-Mac has finished top 5 in MVP voting numerous times. T-Mac was as good if not better than Kobe. F A C T. Durant loves his game. I loved T-Mac's game. Sure, he's a douche. Doesn't mean he's bad at basketball
I don't even know what we're arguing about. Why don't you just post a tupac video so we can end this? Perhaps some Biggie?
Hey Tupac and Biggie are awesome! Better than all this new Soulja Boy and Lil Wayne crap that we have now.
Dude tinman is just hurt that's all. I use to think it was hate but I found out that tinman was Tracy biggest fan before he let him down. Tinman had high hopes for Tracy when he came to Houston he thought he could have been an all time great. But when Tracy let him down he didn't know how to handle it so now all he does is say nothing but bad things about Tracy out of pain. So you see he doesn't hate Tracy he's just letting his feelings come out.
wrong. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/allen_iverson/bio.html In 2000-01, helped the Sixers advance to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1983 and was named the league’s MVP that season. Trivia for you jealous fans: which player took his team to the nba finals and won the mvp that year? Iverson or Tmac? hint: what if scenarios don't count.
Oh there was that one time T-mac was better than Kobe... Spoiler that time was NEVER stay tmac-less my clutchfans
Tinman its clear who's the better player now and who's had the better career no one will deny that. All some people are saying is that once there was a time when it was a real debate. If you don't believe that you're lying to yourself.
They say there's a fine line between love & hate. tinman must have really loved Tmac to now hate him sooooo much. I don't get the hate. He played hard for us in the playoffs (even when he was injured in 08 playoffs). He loved Houston and he loved his teammates. He was just injured which brought out the worst of his personality. For me, the 1st player to get me hooked was jordan in the 90 playoffs. Then the 2nd coming was Tmac.
