true, i was weary of doing that but i felt that i had to at that point w/ all the elite running backs already taken... aaron rodgers put up crazy numbers last year so i felt that i had to take him at that point

I understand why people go for QB's in the 1st round when you get Phillip Rivers or Matt Schaub in the 5th round.

    Would you rather have:

    A:

    Aaron Rodgers
    Pierre Thomas

    or B:

    Phillip Rivers
    Michael Turner/S-Jacks

    hmm good point

i have another draft this week for another league

do you usually recommend to start w/ a RB/WR first? i've seen people draft a number of different ways so I'm just trying to get an idea for what seems to work best

Go for a running back first. Running backs get the most touches per game and can score running or receiving. If you can get a dual threat RB, that's your best bet.

Amazing 1st draft, especially when you factor in you picked 9th.

Going for a RB first isnt the gold standard anymore, especially with more teams utilizing two backs now. There are probably only 5-6 stud RBs worth taking in the first round (Chris Johnson, AP, MJD, Ray Rice, Gore, and maybe Turner). The rest are all question marks. If you are in a deep league and the top 5-6 RBs are off the board, I would draft best player available.

I'd rather go for A, huge upside for Thomas and Rodgers is money in the bank.

    P. Rivers has pretty much gotten as good as he's going to get, and I don't trust Turner of Jackson to ever match their best seasons again.

I'd do that excluding a quarterback. I'd gladly take AJ, Moss or even Megatron in the 1st round. If you don't like Rivers cough*DonnyMost cough* than you could get Schaub, Flacco, Favre or Ryan in 5-7 rounds. However, the best rb you could get by those rounds is generally CJ Spiller, Michael Bush, if lucky Ronnie Brown.

Lol that's as good as Rivers is going to get? Doubt that. In fact, I'll debate that up in down this thread if you want. I don't want to change the subject though so I'll pass on it.

The point wasn't to take those individual players to your liking but more as you have more overall value with team 2 IMHO.

This is my team in a 10-team league with 2 starting QB's, PPR, and partial points for completions/incompletions (.25,-.25). Played in it four years now and won twice- it's almost imperative to have two good to great QB's (Either Brees or Brady has been on every winner - last year I had Brees, Favre, along with Ray Rice and Andre Johnson).

    1. (8) Aaron Rodgers QB
    2. (13) Randy Moss WR
    3. (28) LeSean McCoy RB
    4. (33) Kevin Kolb QB
    5. (48) Joseph Addai RB
    6. (53) Jermichael Finley TE
    7. (68) Matt Forte RB
    8. (73) Mike Sims-Walker WR
    9. (88) Malcom Floyd WR
    10. (93) New Orleans DST
    11. (108) LaDainian Tomlinson RB
    12. (113) Santana Moss WR
    13. (128) Clinton Portis RB
    14. (133) David Garrard QB
    15. (148) Matt Prater K
    16. (153) Lee Evans WR
    17. (168) Chicago DST
    18. (173) Derek Anderson QB
    19. (188) Dexter McCluster WR/RB

Not too strong at WR I don't think, but hopefully Floyd steps up. Reached a little with Kolb, and had a chance at Favre there, so hopefully that doesn't come back to bite me.

I have the 1st pick tonight in my big money league. Trying to figure out if I'm going with Peterson or Johnson. It's a tough call. We're only an 8 team league so depth won't be as much of an issue. Pretty standard performance scoring, with the exception that all TD's are 6 points.

Here's my team that I drafted for my work league. 10 team league, 6 points for all TD's. I posted it in the other thread but there were a bunch of jerks that didn't give me any feedback. ;)

How'd I do? Any changes you guys would make to the week 1 starting lineup?

Drop Hardesty and pick up what you can. He tore an ACL I believe.
