AWESOME THEY SHOULD HAVE STARTED DOING THIS YEARS AGO

NO REASON FOR HIM TO BE PLAYING ALL THOSE MINUTES IN SO MANY MEANINGLESS REGULAR SEASON GAMES

I HOPE THAT THEY PLAY YAO IN A DECENT AMOUNT OF MINUTES AND RAISE IT ONLY FOR THE PLAYOFFS SO THAT HE DOESNT GET INJURED THANKS FOR READING

I am most concerned with this playing time subject. I just don't see the Rockets taking a conservative approach with Yao Ming. I see him being over used again and this in turn will result in him being under available when we need his ability the most.

Yao should play the last 6 min of every quarter to maximize his time in the bonus.

Just because i want to say something on the matter i would write serious, i everyone allows me please. :p

I think Yao minutes are important, but only as important as what role on the team we have for him.
I think this season we will have enough firepower to allow Yao to focus on the defensive anytime the team needs him to.
If his minutes are kept between 20 and 28, which i think it´s safe enough. I would like to see the team to focus their post/picknroll offense through Scola anytime he and Yao are on court, or at least use them 50/50 offensively.
This way you prevent a lot of banging from Yao, and you can see both of them (Scola/Yao) playing off each other. They will still be the primary post weapon when we play Yao/Hill or Scola/Miller.
This way Yao can play 20-28 minutes a game but only during 10 or 15 of those minutes he will be the focus of both offense and defense, ad the other 10-13 he will focus more on defense and play as decoy on offense.
I think avoiding him unnecesary contact will help him a lot, mainly during his first months as any minor injury will delay his form to be back.

I'm hoping he's done playing his off season games for China. I know it means a lot to him to represent his country but if he can just get some off season rest rather than the constant international competitions, it should help in his recuperation for the following seasons.

Hoping the big guy stays healthy and has the same type of recovery as Z.
