My ACL doesn't suck, but my hamstring graft still does. It's been 4 months since my surgery, and it still kinda hurts...I've already started cutting on it lightly...but it still hurts when I do squats and put a lot of pressure on it. I'm ahead of schedule anyway, so I am not too worried, but still I would think that after 4 months it wouldn't be so painful.
I heard ACL's really suck badly if Nate Hybl is your replacement. On a serious note, best wishes to Jason... he seems like a really bright guy, and hopefully he can make it back again. He certainly has the talent and leadership. Didn't Stoops say something about him calling in plays from the sideline later this year?
Same problem here, 3 months post-op; good (not that I'm happy you're in pain or anything) to know I'm not the only one. I've been a little worried, despite assurances from my doc & therapist, that something's wrong with the hammy.
For those that didn't catch on, I am talking about OU's qb, Jason White. He started last year as the backup, came in the Texas game, played great, played against Baylor and KU, then tore his left ACL on a freak play in the Nebraska game. On almost the exact same play this year, after he went through all the rehab, he tore his right ACL Cat: Yes, White will signal in plays. Hybl was supposed to do it, but, well, you know...... Also: Hybl has supposedly improved a little over the summer....I'm not saying he is great, but if our O-Line improves, he's not a bad quarterback...... In some ways, I compare him to Chris Simms. I am not saying he has Simms's talent, which he doesnt, but don't you agree they have the same weaknesses/strengths, etc.? Both can't read defenses very good, and aren't too mobile..... On another note...I know what screwing up your knee is like. I dislocated my kneecap, oh, over 50 times the last 2 years.....I finally had surgery this summer, and can't ball until next year
Well, Simms has supposedly improved a lot over the summer as well, but most Sooner fans won't accept that until they "see it on the field". Simms looks like Michael Vick in mobility compared to Nate Hybl, and having a couple of bad games in a season isn't comparable to sucking in practically every game in a season. OU fans will point out Simms meltdown against CU and the game against OU (without Benson), but they conviently leave out facts like Simms 250 yard, 3 TD, 0 INT performance against the same CU team about a month earlier. CU's offense improved from that point, but not the defense... also, Brett Favre seems to be a pretty good quarterback and he threw six INT's in a playoff game. And, Hybl's strengths aren't anywhere near as strong as Simms' strengths. Comparing Nate Hybl to Chris Simms is like comparing Quincy Carter to Aaron Brooks or something.
I'm not comparing their talents. Simms is either 2nd or 3rd qb in the Big 12, Hybl would be lucky to be top 10......What's your excuse this year when you lose? Last year it was No Benson, the year before that it was "maybe we overlooked them". What's it gonna be this year? And don't bring up "Oh, this is UT's year". I heard that all of last year too, and was it their year? No. And it wasn't OU's year either, I will admit that.
Oh, I get it. If it's not your year one year, it won't ever be. Great logic. Texas won't beat OU... they'll demolish them. If Texas doesn't beat OU by at least 20 points, I will be absolutely shocked. You can quote me on that as much as you wish, but Texas will dominate OU the way Miami dominated Florida. I don't give a **** what happened last year when Roy Williams, Rocky Calmus, and Jason White played, or what happened two years ago when Josh Heupel was the best player in the country. I don't care who has the most championships. I care about the players on the field this year, and even if Simms plays like he did against Colorado (second game), and Greg Davis calls one of the worst games of his life (like last year against OU), I still think UT wins by double digits. There's that much of a gap with Nate Hybl at quarterback. The only certainty is that the same OU fans who bashed Texas fans for saying Benson didn't play will be using the "White was hurt" excuses for the next year.
uh, where did i say it wont ever be your year.....all i asked was what would be your excuse when/if you lost this year. This is the reason I can't stand Texas fans and their cockiness And you may say the OU O-line is bad(which I'll admit, they looked absolutely HORRIBLE), but UT's line was just as bad against a much worse D-line in UNT....I seriously doubt we face a better D-line than Alabama. And how much would you like to bet on that 20 points? Scoreboard, enough said EDIT: And to say Texas will definitely win by 20 points is absurd. Miami would, yes, as Miami would probably beat every team in the country by double digits. But to say that is just flat out stupid, and something I wouldn't expect from someone I respect so much like you. I hope you were kidding......
Pot... kettle. -- And don't bring up "Oh, this is UT's year". I heard that all of last year too -- That sure sounds like someone saying that it won't be UT's year because of the results last year. Also, in your original post, it wasn't "when/if", it was when. I wish I could be as modest as that. As for the bet, none with you, I'll bet on the spread through a betting site where I can get probably 3 to 1 odds on it. UT's line looked bad in the second half of a game that was already 24-0. Forgive me for not taking those results as seriously as OU's in a close game that was on national TV against a decent opponent. Also, one of UNT's defensive tackles is considered one of the best NFL prospects in the country. Roy Williams, enough said. I hope he enjoyed the welcome David Carr gave him this weekend...
I never said or meant that it won't be their year based on last year's results. It just seems like every single year, UT fans are always saying "This is our year", and it never is. Although I do give tremendous credit to Josh Fields and Les Miles for handing you a top 5 finish last year.....
I'm not kidding. I think Texas is that much better than OU with Nate Hybl at quarterback. I saw a mediocre Alabama team marching up and down the field against the "great" OU defense, and I saw Tommie Harris, SI coverboy, sucking wind and being dominated at the line of scrimmage. To be honest, I'd be a little surprised if OU put more than 6 points on the board...
Well, if you don't think it's your year, what is the point in playing? You can say the same thing about 15 other schools that didn't win the national title... it doesn't make their opinions invalid. Also, without Josh Fields and Les Miles, Texas might've been in the national title game, considering they wouldn't have been in the Big XII game...
Yeah, I guess you should knock Harris for having to be on the field what, 45 game minutes? Our D-line will KILL your O-line, and vice versa....I'm guessing somewhere in the neighborhood of 8-12 sacks combined....probably more, since neither one, especially Hybl can avoid sacks at all.... To be honest, I'd be surprised to see Texas put more than 3 points on the board. Unless, of course, they bring in Vincent Young..... Let's see how Texas does against a good team(Yes, Alabama is good, not great, top 30 or so) before we start killing Oklahoma, ok? And don't EVEN start talking about coverboys looking bad.....unless of course you want to bring up Chrissy "Heisman" Simms
oh please. If OU had beaten CU, who would've been in the title game? And if CU had beaten OU, they definitely would have....as OU would've been top 2 in the BCS at the time.....
And do I give a ****? You think everything everybody does is ridiculous. Except, of course, yourself, you're so perfect
Texas will put up 30... maybe even 40. Simms = 250 yards, 3 touchdowns, 0 INT's. OU's defense is substantially worse this year... there aren't the playmakers to stop the runs at the line of scrimmage like last year. OU often had to put a ton of people in the box to stop that vaunted Alabama running game, and if you think you can leave Woolfolk and co. in single coverage against Williams and BJ Johnson... good luck. If you can't handle an Alabama team that marched up and down the field on you, it's going to be a rough game against UT. That same Alabama line struggled a weak earlier against Middle Tennessee State, so I'm not too afraid of that monster OU line. Simms is better than any player on OU's team, so I wouldn't talk down on the 2002 Heisman winner... you can get back to me after Texas beats UNC on the road by about 30 this weekend. Also, if CU couldn't jump one loss Nebraska, it's unlikely for them to jump one loss Texas. Nebraska had exactly one quality win, against Oklahoma. Texas had one quality win, against CU, who would be ranked ahead of OU at the time. Also, for CU to make it as close as they did, the voters would have had to put them ahead of Texas like they did Nebraska. Considering Texas crushed them in the earlier head to head matchup, I'm skeptical on them doing this.
