I got a parking ticket.. Apparently I parked illegally in a tow-away zone in West campus in Austin. Nonetheless, on my ticket, they have the model/make of my car incorrectly stated. I am wondering whether this mistake can allow me to somehow get out of paying my ticket. anybody know?
Pay your ticket and be a man! *These are the responses I acquired when I postulated the same question months ago*
i get a parking ticket basically every 2 weeks here in SF and it's $55/each. do i whine and complain? hell yea. but i just man up and pay. my fault i violated the rules.
i guess it would depend on how bad the mistake was...i dont think they'll dismiss it due to just a spelling error. If it's hondo instead of honda, tough luck. If it's Ford instead of Honda, maybe. But if the license plate is correct that may be enough for them...
inner sunset. i work at UCSF and sometimes it's so busy that i either get there to late to move my car for street cleaning or i totally forgot. PISS ME OFF. these fools are like on commission or something. you're late 2 minutes, and the ticket is there. o well.
Oh, I understand. I almost signed a lease in the outer for price reasons, obviously not as much around as the inner.....but eventually declined. Love the beach, but it's to quiet....like a suburban vibe.
I guess its worth a shot if you can trick them into cancelling it because that's not the make of your car, but if they ask if the plate # is correct, which is likely, then there isnt much you can do. I dont think tickets are ever dismissed, more like they can't be tracked back to you when they mess up the plate number. what's west campus, is it a neighborhood or an actual school campus? I know at UH they would let you pay half, if paid within 2 days, but i'm not sure if the city also does that.
I don't think it matters. If its anything like a speeding ticket, even if they get make/model wrong you still have to pay. They should have your license plate number....
A cop is going to run your plates if he is ever driving behind you and I'm betting that car is either registered to you or your dad. You don't have to run and confess. They're looking for you, they're going to find you.
The better question is....is it worth spending your time in court to fight what could come out to less than $10 per hour?
the ticket probably would be considered invalid. But like rocketspimp said, it may just be easier to pay up
You are still guilty whether with a NISSAN, a HONDA, or a Sheby. Be an honest citizen and realize you could have avoided this, but didn't; admit it and pay, sir. Do not pass GO, do not collect $200.
The first thing I do when I get a ticket is verify that the cop got everything right. It's their own stupid fault if they don't know the difference between a 2-door Nissan and a 4-door Honda. They can't prove that they meant to write it for your car.
Seriously? They can't prove it? How do you know this? Do you know what information is on the ticket? The license plate alone identifies the car. You don't think they just put "here's a ticket for you, Nissan Honda." and walk away, do you? I laugh at you because I can't believe you're serious, surely.
I once got let off a ticket because the cop gave me a Saturday court date. Yeah, I'm serious. The cops have to be held to a standard in which they can at least identify the vehicle they're writing a ticket for. a 2-door Nissan looks nothing like a 4-door Honda.
