So what do all these new developments actually mean? Is there an implication that Carmelo Anthony is going to be traded before the season begins?

If the communication between Carmelo and the Nuggets is getting dirty then doesn't that mean if they don't trade him now they'll have an unhappy Melo playing for the first half of the season?

There was 4-team trade with the Rockets, Nets, Pacers, and Hornets.

Troy Murphy's 12 mil contract is now on the Nets.

    Clippers, Nets, GSW, Houston, Charlotte

You have 4 historically and recently terrible franchises, why with the money being equal would Carmelo want to go to any of them instead of Houston?

Out of these teams no one will do a deal w/o an extension, unless they are complete idiots. You don't dump a ton of young talent when you're a bottom tier team for a half year rental. For Carmelo whatever talent they dump is going to gut the team. Only the Rockets can field a competitive deal and solidify themselves as one of the top 2-3 teams in the west if not the league. Carmelo on any of those other teams might not even make the playoffs.

To build a larger brand than LeBron? China just passed Japan to become the 2nd largest economy. They will beat out the USA in a few years. Carmelo is going to piggyback on Yao's popularity to sell more shoes in china than Lebron.

I think Houston can feel pretty good about their position right now. We have Carmelo's approval and he turned down New York's involvement which means 1. He doesn't care about big city "market" and 2. He is committed to playing for a contender (isn't this why he wants to leave Denver anyways?).

Houston also has young talent in Brooks, Hill, Patterson and also has Knicks picks. A deal with Houston works the best for Carmelo and the Nuggets.

One thing that could throw things off is if another common NBA contender jumps into the picture. I could see GMs all over the league getting on the phones now.

    am i missing something?
how the hell can Golden State,NJ,Clippers or even Charlotte be considered as possible destinations while Houston is the place where he can get what he wants: Money,Global icon, Champ??

i feel really that this is an insult to put these teams beside Houston!!
one thing though can make him change his mind and not come to Houston: if he's stupid!

I think Denver is just trying to get a bidding war going.

I think Carmelo is a business man...am i right or wrong?? Just like Marbury who's starting out business in China.... right?? If so...i have no doubt that's one more reason he want to join the Rockets. Is Carmelo's wife a business person also?? That's something we should look into....

Japan was suppose to beat out usa in a few years back in the 80s, but that never happened.

I don't see Melo want to go to Clippers or NETS. The whole reason he wants out of Denver is because like he said...teams are being upgraded and Denver is not adding any pieces to improve the team...so why would he wants to go to Clippers or NETS when they're not even as talented as the NUGGETS to begin with?

Even though there was a lot of talk about Japan overtaking the US, Japan was really never more than a paper tiger and physically too small to throw its clout around to ensure it's economical interests. Also keep in mind Japan was already a first-world county in the 80's while China right now is still considered a third-world country. By the end of the year China's economy will be larger than Japan's ever was, and the distance between the two will only increase as there's still much, much room to grow in a China with 10x as many people and an area 20x as large. China will probably not a per capita standard of living comparable to America or even Japan in our lifetime, but it's inevitable that China will be the world's largest economy in the next decade or two given its unprecedented growth and sheer scale.

"If Nuggets do hold a Melo auction, my $$ is on Melo to Hou in a three-way with Charlotte -- Dampier to Den (gets under tax), Brooks to Cha."

"To clarify earlier post, Den would get much more than Damp -- get the NY picks from Hou, for starters."

    Not gonna happen.

Him and Kobe would not work. Both need the ball to be dominant.

They wanna go for the three peat and believe that they are ready for it. Just watch Buss' interview on ESPN.

If Morey could pull that off I would post a heartfelt public apology to him and ALL clutchfans members. I would be very, very, VERY sorry for doubting him.
