No it doesnt, but thats why i said the best option is to stay competitive for a few more years and at that point completely rebuild. By "stay competitive" i dont mean being good enough to win rings, but rather good enough not to completely piss off fans.

As for Haywood..his contract isnt too bad early on because of the way it's structured. His final year is a killer at 10 mill, but it's a team option. That leaves 5 true years, the first 3 average to under 8 mill, it's high, but manageable. After those 3 years it's time to rebuild and he can be sent to elsewhere with a 2 yr deal remaining, which is a lot easier to move.

Things Morey is taking with him to Denver:

    Kevin Martin
    Jared Jeffries
    Jordan Hill
    Pooper Lube
    A Red Headband & a #15 Rockets' jersey
A framed picture of him sitting courtside at MSG for Masai Ujiri
Kobe Bryant (dropping him off in Eagle, CO)

Yeah I was thinking Haywood was 34 for some reason. 30 is not so bad at 5 years I guess.

If I was Denver I would look at picks, and young talent, competitive is fine but if it doesn't mean possible championship or help longterm, don't think I'd do it. Just my thinkng.

Dude must be so excited right now...Poor guy doesn't know how bad he is about to be trade-raped by General Morey. Morey can ruin a career with 1 trade.

I for one certainly hope NOT!!!

Battier, Jefferies Hill and NY picks.

Martin is the first true shooting guard to come on board for many a year :p

All i can say is good luck to this guy. Between the shift of ownership, the possible fleeing of their franchise player, an aging core, an oft injured front court, crazy salaries, and a possible restructuring all right before he comes in take's balls of steel..or at least a good dose of crazy juice.

I doubt any GM they've contacted with any sort of reputable name would touch this franchise with a 10 foot pole.

I'm sure that when Mr. Ujiri walked into his new office for the first time, he looked over at the phone and there was a red light blinking from there being a message from DM. ;)

meh. i can part with Martin more than Battier + Bud. esp if we're getting Melo in return. Yeah, I've prolly been drinkin too much of that Kool-Aid but I just think we need the leadership rather than a third prime time scorer who doesnt play defense. I also have faith that Bud will become a very solid player starting this season.

Apparently the Nuggets' 1st target for GM turned down the deal because it was a lowball offer, and a GM at such a reduced price would be half rubber-stamper, half GM, having to make major personnel decisions by committee.

So, Denver turns to Ray Allen's twin brother, who of course takes the job. Probably pays much better as GM for Denver, even at a discount paycheck, than as assistant GM for Toronto (or whatever team). Nice resume builder.

Seems the ownership will be more hands-on in personnel decisions there, and I wouldn't be surprised if they've already taken the reins on fielding the phone calls that will find Melo in another uniform soon. Granted, Melo puts that team on the radar, but as constructed (always-wounded power forwards and centers, a point guard who already has his ring, a potential HOF coach who's recovering from cancer), they're not winning, and might need to shake things up.

    But we'll see, hunh?

That guy is in a no win situation. He's about to get pillaged by Daryl Morey and at the same time be public enemy #1 in Denver for dealing their franchise player. What a crappy way to start your career.
