but brooks isnt injury prone like martin, and brooks wont be paid as much as martin, and brooks is a better passer, better outside shooter...and same defender since martin plays zero defense.

    freethrows-martin
    3 pt shooting-brooks
    defense-even
    lower salary-brooks
    healthier-brooks
    younger-brooks

Yao changes the way we play and if you bring in Carmello? You have the type of complimentary player that goes along with taking pressure of of Yao. Its exactly the player you need with Yao. Brooks or Martin. Whichever we keep would be wide open assassins from outside. To add to that Courtney Lee would get wide open looks and Scola hustling plays and putbacks. They perfectly balance each other on offense. In every way. No matter who. Brooks or Martin with Carmello and Yao. You have a three point specialist and freethrow shooter from one of them Brooks or Martin. You have third scorer and fourth even with Scola at times. You have two primary players Yao and Carmello. Both physically taxing on both teams positions. Defense would be how Yao and Carmello wear those teams out physically. Two huge bodies at those positions and bullying you around. Then Brooks or Martin just outquicking them once they got tired and drawing fouls or hitting open jumpers. Its perfect. In their primes. There is no counter argument. We would be Finals contenders for every year and then Championships contenders for every year Kobe no longer is on top.

Don't forget brooks is a free agent next year and could demand for way more than what he's earning now. Don't be surprised at 8+mill to keep brooks.

If we get Melo this is like getting T-Mac on steroids.

Yao + Melo > Anything that T-Mac and Yao could ever dream of accomplishing.

I'll give you the durability factor. Brooks' low salary is just about a thing of the past and if you think Morey is going to give him the money he will want after he just handed over huge cash to Lowry then I think you're mistaken.

As are as shooting, it's a draw as is defense. Then again, Martin goes the line and scores more points per shot than Brooks so he is, without a doubt, the more efficient scorer. Martin is also an underrated passer but considering how efficiently he scores why would I want him, a shooting guard, to be initiating plays when he finishes them so well?

Youth isn't a point to consider when the guys are only three years apart and both easily young enough to be in their primes during our Yao Ming era window for a Championship.

And at the end of the day Martin is still the best cutter/slasher on the team which is exactly what you need in Adelman's offense especially when you have post up beast like Carmelo.

Disagree. Mcgrady in his prime is way more dynamic and talented than melo. It is such a shame Yao and mcgrady were never 100% healthy together.

I suppose it would depend on what Denver wants back but I just could not imagine a lineup of Brooks, Martin, Melo, Scola, and Yao. Offensively we would be as dangerous as any Rockets team in a long long long time.

I think we would have to part with one of Brooks or Martin don't you think?

The open workout/press conference today has to be a way of Morey reaching out to Melo saying Yao is going to be okay, you can come and take this team over the top. Adding a A grade player to a B+/A- center

Not only that, but think of the combos you could play... essentially, you could set it up so that you always have any 2 of Yao, Melo, Brooks, and Martin on the court.

This situation reminds of cashing a paycheck, wanting to spend the money and frantically looking for something to spend it on. Morey has all of these assets and a team that is two deep at each position with mostly good contracts and he is just waiting on one of these elite players to become available. I hope it works out. It would help if Morey had a good friend in the Nuggets front office (like the Lakers enjoyed in Memphis and Boston had with the Timberwolves).

Melo will be great but at what cost? I hope it is not giving up Brooks or Martin. Battier, JJ, JT, and pick will be the most the Rockets should give for Melo I don't know if that is even close to sealing the deal.

@JeanNYKNicks Melo wants to go to NY. But he's not going to sit around waiting for the Knicks to drag their feet. He'll go to NJ b4 that.

I wonder if we make the trade in the next few weeks if melo gets preloaded to Rox in 2k11.

They could have Lee and Hayes start at SG and PF to even out the offense and defense....

    Starters
    Brooks
    Lee
    Melo
    Hayes
    Yao

    Bench
    Lowry
    Martin
    Battier(hopefully after buyout)
    Scola
    Miller

    ...but they won't.

Damn I hope we can do this without giving up AB or Martin. Taking back JR and or Birdman may be there key here, as someone mentioned that would get the Nugz under the LT. If you could somehow get JR to keep his head on straight this would be fantastic.

    AB/Lowry
    Martin/Lee
    Anthony/Smith
    Scola/Hayes
    Yao/Miller

What do people think about trading both AB, Martin and fillers for Billups and Melo?

Dont get me wrong.. i would hate to lose either one of them cuz i think they're both borderline all-stars.

No need for another thread, but if Denver trades Melo.. they're rebuilding and there's no need for them to keep Billups. Yes he's old, but a proven veteran that can hit a clutch shot or two.

    Thoughts?
