I didn't see because the Astros aren't on TV, but this is what ESPN said... Ishii hit by pitch

Ishii conscious as he's taken away by ambulance

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Associated Press

LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Dodgers rookie left-hander Kazuhisa Ishii left the game Sunday in an ambulance with a concussion after getting struck flush on the forehead by a line drive off the bat of Houston's Brian Hunter.

In the fourth inning, Hunter drove a 3-2 pitch so hard off the left side of Ishii's head that it ricocheted all the way to the backstop behind home plate for a run-scoring single.

Manager Jim Tracy, assistant trainer Matt Wilson and paramedics rushed to the pitcher's aid. Ishii, who turns 29 Monday, was placed in a neck brace, then on a stretcher and driven off through the center-field gate.

Dodgers spokesman John Olguin reported that Ishii has feeling and movement in all of his limbs and was fully conscious when he was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital for X-rays and further tests.

It was the second frightening scene in two weeks at Dodger Stadium. On Aug. 26, Alex Cora left in an ambulance with a concussion after colliding head-first with Arizona shortstop Tony Womack's knee while trying to steal second base.

Ishii entered the game with a 14-9 record -- the most victories on the Dodgers staff -- and a 4.18 ERA. Kevin Beirne replaced Ishii on the mound after a 14-minute delay.

Sounds alot like the Wagner incident a few years back in Arizona.

Ooo Dang! That sounds pretty bad. I missed it too. But that's because I'm watching the Texans-Cowboys game. Hope Ishii's ok. :(

ESPN is reporting that he has a small fracture in his skull.

    "Brian Hunter, infield double."

WTF? I thought. Now I know why. :(

wow, I just saw it on Sportscenter... it looked like Hunter didn't really wanna take his base, but rather check on Ishii... He immediately ran to the mound after taking 1st... pretty scary stuff. Especially with that Dodgers player who had a head injury a few weeks ago looking on.

This is really unlucky for Ishii. The guy hasn't gotten a break since his amazing start. His 1st half of the season he seemed like he would easily win the rooke of the year honors. Since the all star break things have gone way down hill. Hope his is OK

I just saw it. It was horrific. I haven't seen anything that scary since Billy Wagner took one off his cranium in Arizona in 1998.

Hunter did not run to the mound. He sort of ran to 2nd base and was credited with a double.

I saw it on ESPN this morning and have one word; Horrible. It reminded me of the time Wagner took one of his face in Arizona. It was just scarry.

Oh and ESPN; thanks for the extreme close up on the second replay, thats excatly what I needed to see first thing in the morning.

I saw it, but it wasn't nearly as bad looking as the Bryce Florie thing a year or two ago...that was just gruesome.
