Sure they have a team, just like Croatia and Bosnia. They just aren't good enough to advance beyond the European Championships, which is a qualifying tourny for the WC.

Slovenia only gained independence in 1991.....they have some talent (Nachbar, Primoz Brezec, Radoslav Nesterovic), but it's still not enough to get them into the World Championships. If they expand the tournament to 24 teams, like they probably will, then you might see them competing in Japan come 2006.

Slovenia was part of the former Yugoslavia, meaning he (Nachbar) would have been eligible to play if that country had remained unified.

He was actually interviewed pretty recently about the team that the former Yugoslavia could have put on the floor, saying- "Can you imagine how good that team would have been? Too bad we will never know."

PS- Slovenia is a slavic country, you twits.

Divac and I believe pretty much all the Yugo players in NBA are actually Serbs. Probably shouldn't ask Divac himself if he is Croatian, a lot of bad blood between the Croats and Serbs, and I heard Divac had a big nasty shouting match with some Croatian fans during the WBC. :)

Slovenia can put together quite decent national team:

    Boki- SF ROCKET
    Nesterovic - C WOLVES
Ariel McDonald - PG PANATHENAIKOS Greece (last years MVP in EUROPE)
Matjaz Smodis - PF KINDER Italy (one of the best players on last years eurpean champion and this years finalyst)
Sani Becirovic - SG KINDER (he will go in the draft lottery this year)
Jaka Lakovic - PG PANATHENAIKOS (top five for MVP for this regular season in euroleague)
Primoz Brezec - C INDIANA PACERS
Marko Milic - SF (drafted by 76'ers, played for SUNS, he is the guy that has dunked over a car in slovenian ALL-STARS few years ago)
Beno Udrih - PG MACCABI Israel (one of the top prospects in europe)
Marko Tusek - PF SCAVOLINI Italy (very serviceble player with good skills)
Boris Gorenc - SG SIENA Italy (very athletic, with good range, top scorer for his team)
Ivica Jurkovic - PF ( look Tusek)
Erazem Lorbek - C (watch out for this one, he was MVP of european championship for juniors, he is 18 years old, and is going to study at Mitchigan State Uni. this season)

    Sorry about my spelling.

If Serbia, Crotia, Slovenia, Bosnia, etc. had remained one country, they would have a chance to win every international turnament.
