Side question: When you guys saw Martin during the "fan caravan," did you see Courtney Lee there, too? Just wondering since they both train together with David Thorpe.

I don't know if he was there, but he may have been. There were around 8-10 guys also working out, but it was a pretty large facility and even Martin wasn't even very close to us while doing drills. We were way on the sideline, and spent most of the time watching Martin. They had a short water break, the other guys went to the way opposite corner of the building and Martin had about 3-5 minutes to talk to us, sign autographs, and take photos. Then he had to go back to drills & we had to hit the road.

Here is an picture of Martin and two guys who don't appear to be Lee.

    Elvin Hayes wore #11.

#11 should be retired because of Hayes.

    That is all.

Edit - Posted too soon. He also wore #44 for the Rockets, but I think that was in his second stint in Houston. I don't know which number should be retired, but dammit, one of them ought to be.

I was in full support of his number change and trek to Africa. Still am. It brought attention to an important cause, and nobody can fault him for that. Classy move, and great for PR.

What wasn't so great for PR was his crappy attitude and play on the court.

Plus you never know, his comeback may be imminent. ;)

I see. Very cool. Martin looks like he's practicing desperation long range heaves or flopping.

Also... interesting how the Rockets now have 2 David Thorpe clients. Thorpe was at Morey's analytics conference and was on one of the panels, I think. I wonder if they share certain basketball approaches that makes Thorpe's client attractive to the Rockets.

Yao and Courtney should settle it in a fight cage. First person to break a bone loses. It won't be hard to imagine the winner.

i think it's funny how ppl think Yao should give the new guy his number. This is our star player. nobody would expect Amare, Dwight, Kobe, etc. to do the same. it's kind of insulting that Lee would even try.

I think Yao would have chosen #13 if Cato wasn't on the team.

Maybe Yao will give it up. He has the chance to wear No. 13 if he wants to.

Is it really insulting considering the reason why he wanted to wear it? If you don't ask, you don't get.

he's right under the basket so he isn't heaving the ball. looks like he's practicing his rebounding or like you said, his flopping. but he looks like a 12 year old in that pic doh

I asked Jason Friedman & he said Lee wasn't there but Gary Forbes was. It looks like that might even be Forbes in the picture.

Anyone else find it interesting that he wore #11 as a tribute to a teammate who died of an enlarged heart, and now he's going to wear #5, the number worned by ex-Rocket Cuttino Mobley, who recently retired due to an enlarged heart...?

Yao should give it up and wear 34. Then half of this board will explode and go into a coma.

I bet he is wearing 5 b/c in new jersey ge wore 6. Which adds up to 11 so it's still a tribute.

Lee wasn't serious when he said he would try.

Lee has something in common w/ everybody you listed that Yao doesn't..................Lee actually played last season.
