ok, im just saying, but i mean who wouldnt want carmelo anthony without giving up our core? i know people say martin is a borderline allstar, and yao is an all-star and brooks has the potential to be one, but melo is an all star.

and only giving up battier, jeffries, and hill, plus 2 pick (ny) and maybe a second round pick of ours, should really seal the deal.

there is negative if this trade happens, i know some of us are saying, just let the team play it out, we have what it takes to be a contender, no one knows yet how good our team can get, well i say lets add melo and so we can know how good we can get, that way we dont have to see to believe, we have a version of our big 4, like the celtics....brooks, martin, anthony, yao.

    right?

    But who cares? :p

But regardless though.. that's a clear championship lineup even with the lack of defense IMO.

Man that is a 5 headed monster. I don't think you'd need to play defense if you can score 140 on teams. That starting 5 right there....

    Brooks
    Martin
    Melo
    Scola
    Yao

Has the potential to be best scoring team ever.

Who are you going to leave solo? Who you going to double?

Don't mention the Suns, because they did not have 5 guys that averaged nearly 20 ppg starting.

I certainly agree with the fact that Martin and Melo may not be able to co-exist on a team.

We certainly do not need 3 scorers on a team (brooks, martin, melo) that plays average-to-below-average defense.

However, I do think its an upgrade if it doesn't cost us a starter (brooks, martin, scola, Yao) to obtain Scola.

Either way, I do not think Rockets is a defense-oriented team anymore. And I do question Yao's ability to play in a relatively faster-paced environment this year.

Morey completely screwed the Knicks. That's what they get for trying to be the Yankees.

I think current team is clearly a championship lineup even with the lack of talent / defense. Who cares.

Bottom line is if Melo wants to come, Morey will make it happen. You don't get a chance at top 5-10 talent very often unless you just suck.

Thats my opinion as well. If he wants to come here Im sure Morey could make it happen, but like Clutch says alot is going to come down to Yao's health and how he looks on the court to really attract Melo to houston.
By the way I would hate to give up Battier in that trade and I wouldn't be surprised to see Denver shove the Bird Man down our throat in order to trade for Melo.

Do you think they will 'release' battier afterwards
    and
    we could 'release' bird man

If this goes down, the top three most used teams on 2k11 will be the Heat, Lakers, and Rockets.

    really???

man, if i'm wrong on this, i'm VERY wrong. because i can't imagine looking at this lineup...looking around the league...and thinking that we have a championship lineup.

adding melo would change that entirely, in my view.

There are some very important answers that no one has answered yet.

    1) What is the source for Melo's supposed teams of interest?
    2) If the NY, Houston, NJ rumor is false, why hasnt Melo refuted it?
    3) What is the real reason he wants out of Denver? If its to win a championship, his choices are a bit baffling.
    A) NY - Even with Melo there, their no chance of a championship soon, especially factoring in what NY will have to give up to get him.
    B) NJ - A bit more promising, but their track record at getting to the playoffs recently is non-existent. Not to mention, again, what they may have to give up.
    C) Houston - A good choice if not for all the uncertainty concerning Yao. And thats some pretty major uncertainty.

It cant be just about money for he has a 3yr 65M offer on the table. Could he think thats not enough?

Perhaps its the "Heat Syndrome", whereby he is jealous of what they accomplished, and wants something similar? Cant see this at all at least until he is a free agent. And even then, what team has positioned themselves to sign 3 near max players for 2011/12? And what other players are available then? Not CP3. I believe he has 2 years left on his contract. Joe Johnson just signed long term. The answer? No one. Not 3 players of the Lebron/Wade/Bosh caliber.

Which brings me back to that he just wants out of Denver. Perhaps all the management turnover recently? Perhaps just convinced they cant win?

Perhaps this is way way simpler than any of this. Is it not possible he is just uncertain what he wants and has no plan at all? I mean, no preconceived blockbuster ideas on the table? All the hoopla might be nothing more than a uncertainty on his part whether to take Denvers extension, period. All the rest could be pure speculation.

This makes sense to Rocket fans. Does Houston make sense to Carmelo? Is he a diva or does he want to win and own China at the same time? Hou > China as far as career ambitions go.
