lebron wade, carmelo, elton brand, dwight howard. its funny how in 2006 these guys couldn't beat greece. add kobe and you win gold. no way you switch kobe and wade they lose to greece and don't make the final. these guys can't even win a gold without his intensity. wade is 70 percent of kobe

    this
the thing that most people ignore is adjustment
IMHO, Kobe is by far the best player because he can do things to beat you even if he is 60
look at MJ when he came back with Wizards, he could still defeat his opponent by adjusting: easy shots, turnaround jump ****s...
and we all witnessed Hakeem's teaching to the young players summer after summer: the guy can be still effective in the NBA nowadays by making turnaround jumpshots, pump fakes...

so Kobe to me is the best even if others are younger and stronger may be

You have 102 posts and the last 10 have been defending Kobe Bryant and why he is so great. I think you're on the wrong forums. Try Lakergrounds.net or whatever it's called.

I'm not even going to argue with a clown like you, but here's one fact: it was 2006. Those guys were 3 years into their professional basketball careers, and aren't half the players that they are today. Dwight Howard was in his 2nd year.

Kobe is definitely a great basketball player, and has been for a while, but he's 100% behind LeBron and arguably behind Wade at this point in his career. He's been on a top-3 stacked team in the league since acquiring Gasol for nothing and he's been successful. He's a winner -- there's no doubt about that -- but he's had more talent around him than LBJ and Wade, which is 100% fact. It's not by a small margin, either. Saying he's better this year simply because the Lakers won the championship is as stupid as you can get. That's like saying Nash was better than Kobe in 2006 because Nash's team beat the Lakers. Kobe quite possibly put up the worse stats for a finals MVP in the history of the game. It was a team effort with valuable players contributing, a luxury that LeBron and Wade do not have.

Bynum, Gasol, Artest, Odom -- the biggest line-up in the NBA, with each capable of scoring 25 pts. on any given night. Coach: Phil Jackson. Yeah, not exactly a thin line-up. What was the Lakers record when Kobe was out, 3-1? I really hope he misses a long stretch of games this season so we can see just how talented this roster is, with or without Kobe.

Look, I don't like LeBron and Wade, but I don't blindly hate them either, so I'll wait until they fail with a deep and productive roster before I criticize them. Artest, Bynum, Odom, and Gasol...which one of these players would you trade to the Cavs/Heat in a 1-for-1 trade for anyone other than Wade/LeBron? The answer is none. Fact.

Move along, and preferably, to Lakersground.

i dont like the lakers. i like kobe. and i have always liked kobe for his work ethic. and if you believe that the best 2 players in the league can play on the same team than you clearly don't understand how it works. because if you are the best player in the league you don't go play with the so called other best player in the league. by them playing together, they have taken each other out of consideration for best player in the league. lebron and wade are both jokes now.

wade won the title in 06 and lebron peaked out in his 2nd year. dont give me some bull**** that they were too inexperienced to win. bottom line, with kobe team usa wins gold. without him they might, probably not

on top of that this is what he said about Tony Parker

Then there's no real difference between him and Aaron Brooks(notes), save for the part about Aaron Brooks being slightly better

If Aaron is better why he is is 21 and tony at 10

lakers - kobe are no better than cavs- lebron. kobe would have won with the cavs. yeah and i agree the heat blew ass. that is what happens when you tell your gm to dump every contract by the summer of 2010 to get bosh and lebron. kobe dominated the last years playoffs on a hurt knee and finger. he is clear cut better than both those guys. i said 5 years ago i would trade yao and mcgrady straight up for kobe and i guess i was right

haha it is august you ***. and we were talking about kobe and wade. without kobe the lakers miss the playoffs at 42-40. with him they win the title. there you go. if you think he had the worst finals ever for an mvp you are a moron. he averaged over 28 a game

Kobe shot them out of the game.

His selfishness and long 2-point jumpers really hurt the USA team...

They were up by 20 when Kobe decided to start jacking up crap...

He happened to be on it, but there were several games where the US would be up by double digits and he would completely kill the momentum with some truly awful shots, including the championship game where he shot the other team back into the game, and got all the false glory by making a couple shots at the end.

He led the team in attempts by a WIDE margin.

    He took 13 shots a game to Lebron's 10 and Wade's 9.

He shot 46%, while Lebron shot 60% and Wade shot 67%...

He did not get anywhere close to the free-throw line, averaging 0.9 attempts a game, which was the lowest on the team, instead deciding to chuck up threes and long twos at the highest rate on the team. Wade on the otherhand led the team in FTA's at 5 a game. That was off the bench with limited minutes...

    http://www.usabasketball.com/seniormen/2008/stats/USA.HTM

Basically, he was truly ineffective, and should get far less credit than he does for USA winning gold, because they were in fact much better with him off the floor, and with Dwayne Wade on it...

I actually thought this fact was really similar to Jordan and the Dream Team when Jordan chucked up a crapload of 3s and shot a terrible %. In fact, I think it was somewhere in the 40s like Kobe while Barkley, the leading scorer, was in the 60s in fg%. Then again....they were destroying everyone so badly that I suppose he wanted to have fun.

The only thing Wade did better than Kobe was he dominated in a playoff series and won the Championship with much weaker supports.
