Yeah, Yao is better than LaFrentz and Olowakandi right now. Another guy they left off is Jason Richardson, I know he is better than Lamar Odom.
The same thing on Jerry Stackhouse can be said on AI. AI scores 30 ppg at under 40%, and his defense is no better than Mobley's. If your reasoning is right, it makes Mobley a better player than Allen Iverson.
Glad you agree Here are the stat comparisons for AI and Stack: Stacks F/G% last four years: 01 – 02 .397 00 – 01 .402 99 – 00 .428 98 – 99 .371 AI’s F/G% last four years: 01 – 02 .398 00 – 01 .420 99 – 00 .421 98 – 99 .412 As you can see Stack has had only one year better than .420 and two years below .400. Of course you can be an ellite guard with shooting percentages like that...right? Make no doubt about it, if A.I. were playing for the Rockets and scoring 30 points a game while shooting only .398 we would all be calling a bigger ball hog than Cat ever was. Oh BTW here are Cat’s F/G% the last four years: 01 – 02 .438 00 – 01 .434 99 – 00 .430 98 – 99 .425 As you can see Cat’s avg’s have increased every year, as Cat has improved his game, not so with either A.I. or Stack. There is no question that Cat is a much more efficient scorer than either A.I. or Stack. Not to mention that Cat did a large chunk of his damage with out Steve Francis or with Steve playing injured. Cat more often than not was playing with 2, 3 or 4 rookies, you can not say that about Stack or A.I. so why is there F/G% so pathetic when compared to Cat? Stack’s efficiency has continued to dip over the last 3 years. A.I.’s efficiency has continued to dip over the last 3 years. Cat’s efficiency has continued to rise over the last three years. I don’t think it is inconceivable to argue that Cat has surpassed both as a better two guard. But I guess in your eye’s reputation is worth more than fact.
Paul Pierce is not number 5. The guy chokes on the line. CWebb is the biggest choke artist of all time. I think Zo is a little high up other than that its delightful
You might ask Jason Kidd this question. Crash, what you leave out of your analysis of Iverson, and Stack to some degree, is his their teams w-l's. Both teams can build decent teams because they can put terrible offensive players but good defensive players around them simply because those guys can get decent (40%) shots all by their lonesum. Also, the fouls and 3 pointers have to be factored in when considering that 40%. In sum, AI, like Jason Kidd (another sub 40% shooter), makes his much team better even if his shooting % isn't hot. Any list that doesn't have AI as a top 10 player I think is missing the larger picture of what having him does for his teamates (get's them easy shots, lets them focus on D). I mostly agree with one aspect of your argument. Mobley might equal or be better than Stack next year. But AI, nah, not going to happen.
thats a whole bunch of crap. AI would help his team out if he would let someone else shoot. He also needs to go to practice man. What are we talkin about....Practice. Practice. This is practice we're talkin about. Practice mang. We just talkin about practice.
I don't think you have watched Phily much. Ever since they started deviating from the "let AI be the offense" "let everyone else be able to bring-it on defense" formula they have gone from the elite team in the EC to an also ran. I don't know what your getting at with the practice ramble.
They have Payton at 12. Although The Glove is better than Francis, I think that if Francis had played a whole year last year, Francis would be in his spot.
Rashard Lewis is ahead of Cuttino Mobley?? I just looked up their stats for last season and there is no way I would put Rashard ahead of Cat. Lewis 16.8 ppg 7.0 rpg 1.7 apg, 46% shooting, 38% 3p, in 34 min Mobley 21.7 ppg 4.1 rpg 2.5 apg, 44% shooting, 40% 3p, in 42 min Mobley scores more points, more assists and better combined shooting percentage. Yea Cat played a few more minutes, but still I would put Mobley ahead of Lewis on my list. Not to mention Mobley isn't asking for a 75 million dollar contract. At least not yet anyway!!
I don't think you've been watching. Don't let public oppinion and reputation blind you to the facts. Philly did not change their "let AI be the offense" "let everyone else be able to bring-it on defense" formula last year. A.I. took 27 shots a game last year compared to 26 in 00 - 01 when they went to the finals. The east sucks and that is the only reason that Phily made the finals in 00 - 01 not because A.I was so great.
Point 1: Kidd and A.I. are nothing alike. Kidds whole game is centered on getting his teamates envolved. A.I.'s whole game is scoring and he is no where near Kidds level at envolving his teamates. Point 2: Kidd only avg's aout 13 shots a game as compared to A.I.'s 27 shots a game sub his pathetic scoring ability does not have the same type of negitive effect that someone that takes 27 shots a game and only hits 39% of them.
Well, Phily in addition to posting the 3rd best overall record and making the NBA finals, provided the most resistance to the Lakers that year in the playoffs. I think they, and AI, deserve more credit then you give them. Phily the last 2 years have traded away defenders who only take shots when open (created by AI) for better offensive players, IMO this has made them much worse.
They posted the third best record while playing the majority of their games in the east. The EAST. You remember the same group of clubs that the Rockets only lost like 4 games to the whole year? In the eastern conference play offs the 76ers got hot and managed to beat a bunch of second rate basketball clubs that would not have even been in the play offs if they had played in the west. And the 76ers won one whole game against the lakers in that series. In the words of Derick Coleman, "Whop de damn do". The 76ers were dominated in that series. Show me where the 76ers staying power is. Why were they so bad just one year later and unable to mount any kind of serious charge in the pathetic eastern conference play offs last year? The year Philly went to the finals they were AI, Motumbo and a bunch of spares that got hot. This past year they were AI, Motumbo and a bunch of spares that could not get hot.
if you'll go back and check the original post... it says "in no particular order..." At the time, I was guessing at what the list was going to be by process of elimination based on the fact that they had gotten to Stevie at #14. I screwed up and missed Antoine Walker so I'm guessing Zo isn't on the list... not sure who else it could be. Not having Zo in the top 50 is a bit curious to me. We'll see...
