Over the past 3 years, we've been hearing bits and pieces about various players that have been coveted by the Rox. The candidates are usually revealed once we acquire that player (Martin, Lowry, Lee, Miller, Pattersen, etc). In light of recent rumors as to which team can offer the best package in trade rumors, I've seen a lot of homers argue that their prospects trump any other offers. This is usually worse for bottom-dwelling teams (NYK with Gallo, prev GSW with Randolph etc). I would often find myself asking, "if these prospects were so great why is that team so bad?" But then again, Martin, Lowry, and Lee were all acquired from sub .500 teams... My question is this: Which under-the-radar players on bad teams fit the current Rox mold and are likely to excel if brought in via trade? In short, who is on Morey's list? I'll start. 1) Rudy Fernandez - It's common clutchfans knowledge that the malcontent-Spaniard has been on HOU's radar dating back to draft night. His ability to shoot and move off the ball would be a good fit for the Rox. If A Melo trade goes down and depletes the roster of Martin, I can see Morey making a move to salvage Rudy from PDX. He and Lee would compete for minutes at the SG spot. 2) R. Turiaf - The only thing the Rox lack in their front court is an athletic shot blocker. Turiaf is a tough no-nonsense big that is quietly one of the league's leaders in blocks per 48. He also has a decent jumper that can keep defenses honest and his gritty on-court personality would fit right in with HOU. Please add to the list...
Chauncey Billups, Nene Hilarious, Chris Andersen (All "under the radar," relatively speaking since Melo is taking up all the drama). Brandon Rush (they had interest in him back in the draft), Mike Dunleavy (if he got bought out/waived), James Harden, Kirilenko.
I completely agree with the "other" Nuggets. It would seem like a true Morey-type move to sweep up Billups/Andersen for Brooks + Jeffries + fillers + TE (separate deal for Birdman) instead of going for Melo. Billups/Lowry Martin/Lee Battier/Chase Scola/Andersen Yao/Miller Best half court (playoff built) team in the league + very good depth (regular season).
Some rumored ones: Brandon Rush Anthony Randolph Chris Anderson Ricky Rubio Rudy Fernandez Thabo Sefolosha Elliot Williams Iggy Marcin Gortat DeMarcus Cousins

Turiaf may block shots but he doesn't really change them. I don't think he makes nearly as big of an impact as his stats indicate. I doubt Morey covets him.
dejaun blair looks like a guy the rockets could be intrested in, but i think the spurs might wanna keep him to rebuild when duncan retires.
The question is: 1) Do any of these players bring a significant upgrade at a position or add something to the team's weakness? 2) Are they "buy-low" candidates?
Seeing as how the Rockets drafted Taylor and Llull over him, I don't think the Rockets were too high on Blair. Yes Morey has come out and said he was one of the steals of the draft, but he also did say injuries were an issue. Blair will be great as long as his calves still insert into his femur. But those knees are a ticking time bomb; I can't believe he's playing without ACL's if that's true.
Players that I feel aren't exactly supported by stats but still contribute to winning such that we probably rate them much higher than other teams do: Kendrick Perkins Thabo Sefolosha Jason Maxiell Marcin Gortat Birdman Anderson Robin Lopez Anthony Parker Jeff Foster (if he weren't so old) Raja Bell (if he weren't so old) Antonio McDyess (if he weren't close to applying for his AARP card)
Morey seems to be the type to target a player and then eventually get him even if it is years later. Like Lee. IMO he is still just biding his time but eventually will pry Rubio away from the Tpups.
on a serious note.. nate robinson, would fit our system well, i liked watching him in new york, very unselfish player. joakim noah, he's developing very well, becoming way better of a player then i expected.
