Fabregas and Van Persie were not in "game shape" per Wenger ... apparently since they both missed most of camp/preseason they're not up there yet in fitness level.

I guess for those that don't know much about it, yeah, I see your point. They do win a lot. ManU has not made a habit of spending like drunken idiots for players. There have been a few they've paid big money for. But historically, ManU is SELLING players for big money that they developed in their system or got them young and relatively cheap. Chelsea and Real Madrid would be the more accurate choices when comparing to those above. I'd compare ManU to the Indianapolis Colts.

Well technically some of those were "bargain" buys-Valencia, Nani, Carrick and Anderson weren't cheap but then again their price didnt exactly set any G14 + Chelsea records. But I get your point. I think Leroy420 is also trying to convey that United really aren't big spenders anymore as the Clubs finances are dictating that they sit back and go the young player route. To be honest I'd compare Arsenal to the Colts and Man. Utd to New England. Fergie is not afraid to let a big name leave a la Belichick.
