Do you think Josh Smith could fit with the Rockets and fill our defensive void?

Why would you slide battier to the starting 2 instead of Lee?

Battier fits better with the starting 5 and Lee fits better with the 2nd unit. Batman is the better defender, shooter, passer, and halfcourt player. In Mac's days, Shane usually guarded the opponent's bigger wing threat regardless of whether he was a 2 or 3. Also, Battier's effectiveness becomes greatly diminished as he is a horrible fit with the run/gun style of the 2nd unit whereas Lee is much better in transition.

Since this has become NBA2011 and Texas is a right to bear arms state:

    12 player deal...

Rockets Outgoing: Brooks, Hill, Battier, Jeffries, Hayes, Johnson, Harris, 2012 #1 pick
Rockets Incoming: Gilbert Arenas, Gerald Wallace

Bobcats Outgoing: D.J. Augustin, Gerald Wallace, Diop
Bobcats Incoming: Brooks, Battier, Al Thorton, Hayes, Washington's #1
Is that enough to pry Wallace from their hands? They are getting a nice salary dump in Diop (2x6.4) as a bonus for a team over the LT. And end up with a much deeper team at all positions.

Washington Outgoing: Gilbert Arenas, Al Thorton, #1 pick
Washington Incoming: Hill, Jeffries, Johnson, Harris, D.J. Augustin, Diop, Rockets 2012 #1
That's the minimum price for getting rid of Arenas and they are major players in the 2011 FA (though the class is pretty sparse). They can cut Harris and/or Johnson for no cost.

    Rockets lineup:

    Yao / Miller
    Scola / Patterson
    Wallace / Budinger
    Martin / Lee / Taylor
    Arenas / Lowry / Ish

Fill in with some TE trades or walk-ons and that team will score 150 points. :p

If you were either Philly or Minnesota, why would you make this trade?

Really. I'd like to know your reasoning.

If you don't know the answer, then perhaps this wasn't worth posting.

(Sorry, don't mean to pick on you. I'm just tired of preposterous trade proposals that make no sense.)

Last season during the deadline it was rumored that Houston did not want to include Bud in a deal to get Iggy, so the deal wasn't made. Maybe offering Bud with a couple of expirings?

The Minnesota deal would have to be two seperate deals in order for Minny to get the $3 mil. TE for K. Love. Besides getting Hill and Smith is not a total loss. Sorta like the move Morey just made  i guess.

Other than those minor but decent reasons, this, like my lat two RANDOM trades, gets us under the tax.

Oh yeah, don't worry about picking on me. I am actually trying to make these as realistic as possible so i value the input. No matter how rude it is.  Just kidding.

Actually I am pretty sure the Rockets ended up offering McGrady and Bud for Iggy + Williams or somthing similar and the Sixers turned it down. Can't remember what it was specifically, but that sixers insider posted it.

Because of the recent trade of Ariza I think we need a new small forward. I would propose a trade like this.

    Rockets Recieves: Carlos Delfino

Bucks Recieves: Jordan Hill, Mike Harris, and Alexander Johnson

The Bucks have done alot of overhaul this off season. They traded for Corey Maggette and Chris Douglas Roberts. They resigned John Salmons, and signed Drew Gooden and Kenyon Dooling. They drafted Larry Sanders, but they colud still use some depth at the power forward and center. They've set themselves up to make some real noise in the east this year. Jordan Hill is a young prospect and Mike Harris and Alexander Johnson could be waived to save some cash.

The Rockets would get Carlos Delfino. Delfino is a very versatile player. He's a good rebounder, and defends several positions well. He's tough and gritty, and a good 3-point shooter. Plus he's only 27.

This is a type of under the radar move Morey would make. He's a good role player, and he has pretty decent passing skills.(Doesn't commit alot of turnovers.) Also he's played with Scola on the Argentinian team.

Iggy for Shane/Jeffries, please keep Jordan Hill. The April 2nd game against Boston in Boston, when Hill outplayed Perkins convinced me that the JH is a keeper.

Okay, I was bored and messing around with the trade machine and came up with this 3 team trade.

Indiana is rumored to be searching for a big man.

Philly is looking to be in cost cutting mode and might want to start rebuilding with Turner but still maintain being competitive.

We need an upgrade at the SF position and a legit wing that will put us over the top.

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=27dsg4k

Indiana sends Dwayne Jones to Houston and Dantay Jones to Philadelphia

Indiana receives Mareese Speights from Philadelphia

    Collison/Ford
    Dunleavy/Rush
    Granger/Posey/George
    Speights/Hansborough/McRoberts
    Hibbert/Foster

Philadelphia sends Andre Iguodala and Jason Kapono to Houston and Mareese Speights to Indiana

Philadelphia recieves Hill + Battier + Jeffries from Houston and Dahntay Jones from Indiana

    Holiday/Williams
    Turner/Jones/Green
    Battier/Young/Nocioni
    Brand/Hill/Jeffries
    Hawes/Battie

Houston recieves Andre Iguodala and Jason Kapono from Philadelphia and Solomon Jones from Indiana

Houston sends Battier + Hill + Jeffries to Philadelphia

    Brooks/Lowry
    Martin/Lee/Taylor
    Iguodala/Budinger/Kapono
    Scola/Hayes/Patterson
    Yao/Miller/Jones

did u watch the summer league games? especially the game where Omar Samhan outplayed him. i believe hill is a goner, i dont think he is a part of the future plans.

and also i dont think the 76ers would trade Shane/jeffries for Iggy.

Bird is gonna hang up the phone immediately. This probably had a slight chance of happening, but since they got Collison, they don't have no use for Brooks.

Also, Bird is not trading away Granger. He is trying to build his team around him.

What would you think of the roster if such trades would be possible? (IMHO, we have enough sweeteners in forms of picks and/or cheap young talent to make them happen)....

PG: Hinrich, Brooks (with perhaps more mintues than Hinrich, scoring punch from the bench)
    SG: Joe Johnson, Lee
    SF: Battier, Budinger
    PF: Scola, Patteron, Hayes
C: Yao, Miller, Hill (if not traded as sweetener)

Don't you think this roster would be more balanced, with better court vision and defense on the backcourt?

And what was the point of that flexibility if you can't upgrade the team?

Besides, it was supposed than money was no object to get a real upgrade (JJ over KM), and even with JJ big contract, the team would still be under the cap...

...anyway, if money is a problem, how about sticking to the same plan, but going after Jason Richardson instead of Joe Johnson? Less court vision, but less money issues....I hope you get the idea....

Interesting. Prince is still my first choice, but Delfino would be a good dark horse candidate. He also has a team option for another year, whereas Prince could just end up being a one-year rental. He's a really good defender by all accounts, but I'm not sure if he's at Ariza or Battier's level, which you pretty much need when Martin is your starter.
