This video shows Air Bud going through some dribbling drills on his recent trip to China for Yao's Foundation charity tour. Chase also shows he's got alot of athleticism taking it to the hole in some of the drills. It's cool to see some of the other NBA show off their skills taking it to the rack, too, like Brandon Jennings and Baron Davis. Overall I like this video because it shows what it was like for these guys behind-the-scenes on their trip, as well as what Beijing pre-game basketball entertainment is like. Can't really hear what Brooks and Yao were saying, all I heard was "You playin today? You runnin? Are you serious?" from Brooks.
This video has become even more relevant now that Ariza is gone, meaning more minutes for Bud. Regarding Hasheem's dribbling, I'm surprised they had a 7-footer going through these drills. Big men like him aren't expected to handle the ball like the guards or even the 3s or 4s. So I'd cut him some slack on the dribbling. At least he was up for doing it to try to get better at something he'll rarely do.
I was about to tear into Thabeet but yeah, true, that's a good point. Who cares about the dribbling skills of big men, couple bounces is all they need to do.
When you're playing with the best players on the planet small thing start to separate players. I'm actually disappointed, Thabeet should be better at this point. Don't get me wrong, he shouldn't have the technique of guard but he should be able to dribble the ball with either hand. The first drill where they were just dribbling he was having trouble with that. We did most of those drills in middle school. Everyone 1-5.
