Unless Rip or Prince get moved, he's riding pine on a non-contender. Can't see him and Ben Gordon getting along, either.

    Best of luck, McGrady.

I never said he disliked the guy but you know as well as I that he often and diplomatically calls mentally Tmac soft.

Says the guy who has repeatedly made an ass of himself defending a loser like McGrady

I'm sure JVG likes McGrady just fine as a person so why would he disparage him? He knew McGrady was soft, however, so to use his usual heavy-handed approach would have broken McGrady soft spirit. JVG knows how to win even if that means massaging a broken superstars ego and handling him with kid gloves.

Props to Tmac1. I think he's the only T-Mac defender who dared show his face in this thread. Where are all the other T-Mac fans who blamed Adelman for not giving T-Mac enough minutes?

We know for certain McGrady tried to go to Miami, Chicago and even the Clippers. None of those teams would have him. And while veterans like Shaq and even Juwan Howard sign on with contenders, McGrady was reduced to signing with a team that is one of the worst in the Eastern Conference. Neither the team nor the city have anything appealing to offer whatsoever, so we can safely assume that NOBODY else wanted him. And yet there McGrady is, on the Detroit Pistons, for the veterans minimum.

Seriously, where are the T-Mac defenders now?

It's sad, but his career is over. And you know what? It ended about a year and a half ago.

This year is going to show if McGrady still has something left in the tank or not.

He'll be 1 year and 6 months in from microfracture knee surgery by training camp.

As soon as he went for elective microfracture surgery.

Done in by his own ego.

im still here. but seriously, the start of the season is the only time that we should be judging tmac. give him one full season to recover first and then let's see how he plays.

cmon. when he had the surgery the offseason when artest came in, everyone expected him to play at the top level. DM and adelman wanted him to come in every night and ignore the pain and play through it. he obviously couldnt play. it wasnt acting, it wasnt being a diva. he just couldnt play.

so he thought he'd get better by getting mf surgery, and you expect him to immediately be back to the old tmac?

this coming season is the first full season after the mf surgery. this is the only time we can be sure if tmac really cant play in the nba anymore. grant hill went through several ankle injuries, he was out for years, but look at him now, still playing at his age.

keep reaching. you're one of the few posters who always "assume" everything and assume them as facts. so keep doing what you're doing.

FYI: JVG has said great things abou tmac when he was fired from the rockets. no need to massage his soft ego brother.

JVG is a loyal person. he asked a lot of tmac when he coached us and he appreciated tmac for that. is that so hard to understand?

not everyone hates tmac like you.

exactly. if tmac doesn't prove himself this year, i will expect him to retire. his main problem is the pain.

ok if he goes to a team that's contenders then he is going to be called a ring chaser blah blah blah. He goes to a team like the pistons and now he is crazy?lol some people on here are funny. Y is his NBA career over cause he had 2 bad seasons? Injuries? Hell if that's the case mcdysse career been over but wait he is still playin. Jason Kidd also. Should KG career be over also. He was riddled with injuries the past 3 seasons. AK47 Yao Ming Iean I can go on forever

I agree, some of these statements on the board are stupid. There are tons of players in the NBA that are sub par and they're still playing.

You keep forgetting that T-mac does want to compete for a ring, but no contender is dumb enough to want him.

    that's the main difference.

I would take Jason Kidd and KG and AK47 over T-mac now for sure.
    100/100 times.

We would've too if they were available. Instead... we chose Brain Cook, the next best available.

    Signed,

    Clippers

I read somewhere that Battier and mcgrady where hanging out with
Battier in detroit for a couple of days before his workout with the Pistons. Somuch for Batter hating McGrady.

TMac is a diva. If he has Hill's personality, he would get a contract with a contender. A good workout may even earn him MLE.
