Granger is not untouchable if he was then Indy wouldn't have drafted Paul George. Plain and simple. I bet the Rockets do use the TPE if Yao gets hurt. And I think its realistic its for Gortat.
They'll trade George before they'll trade Granger, especially now that they have one heck of a starting point guard. Indiana has been out of the playoffs for four or five years now. That brawl in Detroit back in 2004 just destroyed them.
Right now, the Rockets roster are all filled up and they don't need another good or decent player. Their next move should be superstar...no more and less than that. MELO is next.
Gerald Wallace = Hill + Battier + Taylor + Knicks 2012 + 2011 pick swap. You'd be extremely lucky to get a player like Wallace with either of those picks. Brooks / Lowry Martin / Lee Wallace / Budinger Scola / Patterson / Jeffries Yao / Miller / Hayes
What about Hou gets Steve Nash Phx gets Aaron Brooks Jared Jeffries Nyk 2011 Pick swap Positive: Rockets get a former mvp who is still producing at a high level. Morey says he likes to make moves looking in three year windows and Nash has probably got three years left. He keeps himself healthy and doesn't have an injury history. And if you doubt his talent, you just have to look at last years playoffs. Nash had to be the second best player in the entire playoffs or at least tied (Rondo also having a great post season; Kobe of course was killing it and was the best.) This guy is a real player and his grit and heart fits with what the Rockets do. Nash is also a leader. The Rox don't really have a leader right now. I'd put Battier as our leader. Phx does this to get Nash's replacement in Brooks. They get assets and cap relief. Phx also lets Nash play for a contender. All parties seem to be happy. Rox also don't have to worry about Brook's paycheck next year. Negative: We get older. I think we can't use this as an excuse because we have so many assets and up and coming youth on our team. We have to give something in order to get something. Nash is, in my opinion, a better option than Iggy, Granger, or I think even the ambiguous Carmelo Anthony. Who else can play along side KMart, Yao (Off court friend with Nash) and the always hustling Scola. We can do this Clutchfans. Nash for Rox 2010-2011! (I also love Chris Paul and Gerald Wallace, but this seems more real and I can always make more posts.)
Yeah. It was awesome when Morey and Les told Luis Scola to screw himself and go back to playing in Spain after the Rockets had drafted Patrick Patterson. Plain and simple. (And Scola's not even in the same league as Granger.)
So let me get this straight: We have a couple of TPEs (Traded Player Exceptions) that we can use to acquire any other pieces, -The one from the Martin Trade ($3.1 million) -The one from the Andersen salary dump ($2.5 million) -The one from the Ariza salary dump ($6.5 million) .........correct? Or am I way off base? Damion
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine Look up the Rockets. It'll have your answer. It doesn't really matter how much the total is, since you cannot combine trade exceptions. The Ariza one just generated (~$6.32M) is by far the largest, though.
This makes a lot of sense to me.....without the pic. If PHX can steal Brooks from Houston for an old Nash, and they are out of the playoffs, I think they do it. We could then send Battier, Lowry, and Hill to Philly for Iggy and Smith.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=299b5d9 Throw in our 2011 1st round pick (not the Knicks swap, OUR first rounder) and that's it. How 'bout that?
Ehh, it depends on Battier. If Battier really starts to show his age, then maybe we should try to acquire a wing. But as for Iggy, I personally don't think we need him. He isn't an elite talent and his contract is terrible ($12 million for 4 more years.) His stats aren't great for being on a horrible team. And adding scoring seems redundant with Brooks (or in the case Nash) Martin, Scola and Yao. We probably would be better, but it seems more of lateral move than a positive move; or you could say a Maverick move rather than a Rox move. I agree that we need elite talent, but honestly the only way elite talent can be acquired is through the draft. So other than the Nash trade, I would stand pat and let the chemistry marinate. Unless Roy or Durant get on the market. Highly doubtful.
Battier is also more of a playoff player than a regular season player to, so I'm saving my judgments till then.
This is what our team can offer for an upgrade in SF without having to subtract from our "core". A) instant relief of an unwanted contract of up to ~$8mil off via the Ariza TE B) young talent (Hill, Patterson, Chase, Taylor, B Miller j/k) C) future 1st round potential lottery type picks (NY swap '11, NY '12, Rox '12) D) solid veterans that can help you win now but are expiring contracts (Bat/Jef) with this in mind, I am wondering if G. Wallace would be available near the deadline if their team tanks. For ex: G. Wallace for Hill + Battier + Taylor + NY picks then Diop for Ariza TE. Crash would make our lineup the best it can be without a superstar. We would be top 5 in the league in both offense and defense; thus championship contenders according to Morey's terms.
