Morey has put together an incredibly well-rounded team, with two legitimate rotation players at every position. They won't overwhelm, but they'll always have a chance to exploit matchups while not losing too much ground against the opposing team's positions of strength.
No holes that I can think of. This is the most versatile and well-rounded team in the NBA. They have at least one player capable of everything at every position on the roster
The rockets biggest weakness is HEALTH! If the team stay healthy, we coud go very deep in the playoffs.
Clearly the biggest hole is small forward, since we have borderline all-stars at every other position. Iggy would make us best all-around team in the league without even needing a superstar.
To those clamoring for a superstar; take advice from one of the greatest coaches in NBA history.... "On a good team there are no superstars. There are great players who show they are great players by being able to play with others as a team. They have the ability to be superstars, but if they fit into a good team, they make sacrifices, they do things necessary to help the team win. What the numbers are in salaries or statistics don't matter; how they play together does." Red Holzman http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Holzman
Until Brooks proves that he can organize and run the offense well, and until he can show that he can pass and defend, the biggest hole is in the starting PG position.
Has to be the sf position. The team needs a solid scorer that can complement Yao. The team's sg can do it but with a threat at sf, other teams will have to pick its poison on who to defend.
This is just the definition of the superstar: "They are great players who show they are great players by being able to play with others as a team. They have the ability to be superstars, but if they fit into a good team, they make sacrifices, they do things necessary to help the team win." If a team do not have superstars, they wont win.
From 1980 to 2010 no team except the 2004 Pistons won a championship without having a top five player, so I'll play the odds and say the Rockets absolutely need a superstar to win it all.
We need a back-up center for our back-up center. I didnt know yao was ready or will be before the opener.
Pistons happened once in 30 years and they won because of their good if not great team players. Kings, ............ got beat by superstar powers and their hard work on the refs. "You don't need superstar to win" = "you don't need to win".
