Doesn't Lee's talent to contract ratio make him a more valuable asset than Ariza?

How he was signed for the MLE to be a good role player. He wasn't suppose to be the go to guy. We signed him for a good price and did a good job last season.

What about Brook Lopez or Derek Favors, or even Devin Harris?

Well, we obviously expected more from Tevor, we know that DM doesn't do ordinary trade/signing, and MLE for a Ariza was turn out to be an ordinary one. So DM is moving on, keep looking to add values to his roaster. Great job!

If you think Devin Harris is an upgrade on either of our pgs, I'm going to have to disagree with you.

IIRC it wasn't even the MLE. It was the injury exception the Rockets received for Yao being out. So it was a free MLE on top of the one we had.

Ariza is not as dumb as Swift. But he doesn't fit the Rockets culture here, with smart, disciplined players from top to bottom. Adelman's teams always depend on intelligence.

Good trade. When Ariza was on the floor, the offense was out of sync.

Why are people acting like the reason Battier got less playing time last season was because of his "deterioration?" He only got less playing time because he was injured late last season. His injury's healed (probably) so he should be back to the Battier of two years ago. Plus he relied much on using Yao behind him to funnel his man into bad positions, so he looked much worse as a defender without Yao than with.

Really? Let's check. In their two games last year:

    Points: Brooks 17.5 pts/game Harris 19 pts/game

    FG%: Brooks 34.5% Harris 43.2%

    Assists: Brooks 5 ast/game Harris 6.5 ast/game

    Turnovers: Brooks 2.0 TO/Game Harris 2.5 TO/Game

    Steals : Brooks 1.0 Stl/game Harris 1.0 stl/game

So Harris is ahead in points, fg% and assists. Brooks had fewer turnovers and they were even in steals.

That's an interesting definition of "eats him alive". Looks pretty even to me with Harris having had a slight edge.

Oh, don't forget that Harris hadn't even healed from his injury all of last season!

You are exactly right. Not having the shot blocker behind Battier was a huge problem. Battier does a great job of taking away a players favorite tendencies and forcing them towards Yao. What was a great defensive strategy two season ago looked like bad defense last season when the player would get all the way to the rim.

Same thing happened to Rodney McCray once he no longer had Ralph and Hakeem behind him.

Don't bring things like facts and common sense to this board, aelliot! We will have none of that! We want only unsubstantiated and unsupported claims made in the heat of the moment! The more absurd, the better.

So by that logic Chuck Hayes is better than Lopez? Derek Fisher is better than Rondo? Nice logic.
