I think this deal was based upon budinger, now he doesn't have to share with Ariza and battier at the 3 spot. And Lee plays off the ball so he fits in Adelmans offense, but I still like the potential of taylor over lee.
You obviously turn off the games when the bench is put in. Taylor scores with ease against the other teams 3rd stringers, and played great when he was asked to step up and guard Kobe in his first career start(15 points). DM was quoted saying that Adleman wished he could start Taylor. He's the most athletic player on the rockets roster and has a great work ethic... As of right now though, Lee is the more rounded player..
Lee does the exact same thing as Ariza does. Lee is a bit shorter of course, costs less, and is younger. Far from being the worse trade, a horrible trade is a trade that sets the team back. As it stands this team is in the exact same place as before, I don't see it having a large impact either way.
Yeah I wouldn't get too comfortable with Houston (and RGV) if I were JT. If Courtney was the SG they wanted back in his draft and went back and traded for him after already having JT then I'm thinking they have him higher rated than JT. I would be watching Martin and how many times he's missing games due to injuries. If too many times, and CL shines in his place then I can see Morey taking a few calls for Martin.
courtney lee carried the magic for stretches in the playoffs 2 years ago. he is TONS better than Jermaine Taylor, who hasn't proven a thing in the NBDL or summer league.
Seems to be a lot of people saying this. Leslie Alexander is going to have to pay luxury tax. He just gave up Ariza (6.3m) and acquired Lee (1.3m). He's saving 5m off the bat. It's not hard to understand.
This need to be re-posted 100 times as well. And for those saying this is the worst trade of all time, the Rockets have too much potential sitting the bench. JT for all of his upside is still just that, all upside. We needed a backup SG, we needed to open up spots. Salary dump?, sure. But Ariza wasn't worth it, rather have that money to spend elsewhere while giving Bud more PT.
Lee is a very solid NBA rotational player with NBA Finals experience who would start for some pretty good teams in this league. Taylor is an NBDL player try to make himself into an NBA full-time player. It isn't that difficult. Amare Stoudemire <or> Jordan Hill? Lebron James <or> Chase Budinger?
Seriously, what do you do if you are Jermaine Taylor? It is fairly clear that he won't be playing in Houston and it is a contract year as next year is a team option. Do you guys think the org will trade him? I think they dump him for a 2nd round pick to another team before the season. They may wait to see if there are any injuries before camp but by the trade deadline, I think he is a goner. DD
