USA hasn't won the World Championships since 1994. The running excuse is that USA doesn't bring the A-team. Well, this current USA squad isn't the A-team either, so I have to wonder how good they'll do.

Actually though, I think we have a greater chance this time because many of the veterans of the significant teams are old now.

The FIBA Worlds start up in around 30mins.

Some games that might be of interest:

    Australia (Newley) v Jordan
    Russia v Puerto Rico
    USA v Croatia
    Germany v Argentina (Scola)

Aus-Jordan game is an hour away, the rest much later on.

Rus-PR could be the only competitive match up played today.

Yi is so confusing...Dude is like 6'8, can dribble really well...can shoot...can finish...but just can't put it all together...I guess it's the Odom Syndrome or something.

They are awful. Also, Sun "You" instead of Yue.

LOL he did have that dunk. this team is slightly better than i thought. the other coach used to coach them, but they still can't blow them out. they are not very good if it wasn't all these missed FT and 3's, they would b losing to China right now.

I came in here getting on Yi and he really has clearly shown he is the best player on the court this game. China has a real shot to pull off the upset.

Agreed, if he played with this kind of confidence in the NBA, he would be a lot better.

I've always thought it was a mental thing with him. He definitely has the tools to be a good NBA player. Good thing he's still very young and can gain that confidence.

Lol I can't believe Wang zhizhi could still hang with these guys at 34 years old! And Yi, my god he looked like a rebounding machine out there. And I was really surprised how well the 2-3 zone worked out (it sort of looked like a 2-1-2 to start with, then morphed into a 2-3 to me) we only lost by 8 points, and even had the lead for a brief moment. I was slightly surprised how the Greeks couldn't finish that well around the basket, Bourois (or whatever his name is) even missed a short jumper just outside the paint, but could drill in three pointers.
