Is this season really worth watching since LeBron "took his talents to South Beach". Even JVG predicts them breaking the Bulls record of 72 wins and Lakers record of 33 wins in a row in a regular season. Is there anyone else out there who believes that the NBA isn't just what it used to be? What's the point of watching this season, other than the Rockets with Yao back and Brad Miller backing him up, when Miami's just gonna beat everyone in blow-out fashion.
All it takes is one of the 3 to go down, and they wont be the favorite in the East anymore. Even if we can't beat them (and I think we can), it's worth watching the Rockets try and make it to the finals. Even if we lose in the finals to the Heat, that's still a hell of a good season for us.
We have a forum called NBA Dish for this type of question. I think I will watch at least one week of actual games before I decide if the season is worth watching.
I'm actually looking forward to watching next season. I might get NBA League Pass for the first time ever.
I think this is going to be a fantastic season. Team basketball coming back from the brink - this is the first year of the era where superstars finally become less important than teams.
Take up another sport and team to watch if you think this season isn't going to be worth watching.....
Although Miami will do great in the regular season, they don't have what it takes in the playoffs just yet this year. Dwight Howard will still kill them and teamwork of the Celtics will give them challenges too, and then if they get through that, they still have the Lakers to deal with.
I'm looking forward to watching the Rockets, Heat, Bulls, Lakers, OKC, Orlando, Boston & ya I said it, the Utah Jazz. I think there will be some good basketball this season with a lot of teams retooling (Celts & Heat) and maturing (Rockets & OKC). Also looking forward to another first round flame out of the always over-hyped Mavs.
Teams with a sharp shooting PG (ala Aaron Brooks), and a strong post presence (ala Yao, Miller, Scola) should be able to hang with the Heat. Dan Patrick Show this morning was talking about how championship teams win with defense. The Lakers, The Celtics, the Spurs, The Pistons, even the 06 Heat all won with defense. If we play solid D, limit turnovers, and hit the boards like they owe us money, we have a solid chance of taking them on in a 7 game series.
i think this Miami **** is just 1 big ass joke...they dont have as many reserve players 2 back them, thats y i believe they wont win it
Leaving aside the question of whether Miami is pre-ordained to win it all -- they have a great team, but it's a long season and things happen: people get injured, people don't get along with each other, players become scrubby for strange reasons, people's mothers do things with Delonte West, etc, here's a question for you: Do you watch basketball for the sole purpose of trying to figure out the mystery of who will win the NBA Finals or do you watch basketball because you like watching basketball?
It takes 5, Rockets are reloaded and whoever is out on the court comes to play. Miami will not break the record this year of 72 wins, they might in a couple of seasons, and I just don't see them dominating enough to win 33 games in a row, Miami wasn't the only team to get better in the offseason, which may I remind you is not over. If we can win 50+ games, go to WCF I'll be content. But every season I'm expecting a championship.
