    19 Houston Rockets -
With Yao Ming, a healthy Steve Francis and some other luck in the injuries department this season, the Rockets could be one of the surprise teams in the NBA. We'll see how good Francis really is should Eddie Griffin and Mo Taylor prove to be effective post players as the season progresses, too.

I think we should definately be higher. We belong around 13 or 14

I just bought TSN's Pro Basketball 02-03 and had us ranked #9. That might be generous, but it's a definite slap-down on the Leastern Conference, as only two Leastern teams crack their Top 10.

#19 is not a big deal, considering our injuries from last year and a ? about Steve's migraines (hey, he's doing fine!) and how well Yao will do (gonna kick some A!)

#19 sounds about right. We sucked royally most of last year. It's a crapshoot on most of our improvements. Does MT comes back like he was before the injury or if there will be some conflict between him and KT over playing time. Glen Rice any better than last year? I doubt it. EG will be improved. Will Yao be a critical difference? Will the Rockets other than SF try to rebound? I hope we are better and at *least* more entertaining than the slow down one on one offense we had last year.

That's out already! I can't wait to get my hands on that mag each year. I've been collecting those. I have gotten everyone for the past 7 years or so. Where did you get your copy?

16 teams will make the playoffs. With the stronger teams in the West, number 19 means we won't!

    Barnes and Noble.

I prefer another but can't recall the name, maybe Fantasy basketball something-or-other, very in-depth, very informative, and excellent brain candy for when I'm on the elliptical machine at the gym. It's not out yet, though.

Street & Smith is out but I don't like it as much....text, graphics, writing, just doesn't do it for me.

All teams start will zero wins and zero losses. Ranking means nothing. Scoring the most points does. Why pay any attention to these "rankings?" The Rockets are going to start strong and get stronger. Thumbs up, Rocks.

They probably take into account that New Orleans plays in the Eastern Conference and will likely have a easier schedule than the Rockets.

    19 is about right...

We have to prove something on the court, before respect comes. People won't respect the Rockets just because we'll be healthier.

I expect us to be in the 13-15 range by the end of the year.

I can't remember too many teams who were one of the worst 5 teams the year before, being considered average to good before the season starts.

What was the Spurs record the year they picked Duncan number one? If I heard correct by the end of the year they had like the best turn-around in league history, it would be cool of we could do that:D pipe dream I know, I wish I could remember the exact numbers though.

I think the Spurs were exactly 20-62, then won like 55 games the next year.
