Just watched it with with my wife and it was hilarious. Had never heard of it, but had a great cast and the director has done some amazing stuff, like Notting Hill, 4 weddings and a funeral and Love actually, so gave it a try. It was a fine movie, an absurd comedy..... 3.5 out of 4 stars. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/qX1SSiFWF-s&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/qX1SSiFWF-s&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> DD

I haven't seen it yet, but I love Philip Seymour Hoffman. I recently watched "Synecdoche, New York" and it was freaking amazing. Charlie Kaufman directed it (He wrote Being John Malkovich, Adaption, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind). Total mind-bender. I recommend it.
In somewhat the same vein: Taking Woodstock with Dimitri Martin was enjoyable. (I did just put Pirate radio on the top of my Netflix que, I had forgotten about it this Summer along with It Might Get Loud)
I will have to check those out too....but Pirate Radio surprised me with how good it was...very very funny stuff. DD
Really liked the movie, but was disappointed when I found out the story was 90% made up. Really well cast though.
Wouldn't it be cool if there's a website that rated on how accurate "inspired/based on a real story" movies are? They could be rated from 1 to 10 with 10 being the most accurate, based on research.
Wasn't this called 'The Boat That Rocked', and was released last year? Either way, it's a great film with a rocking sound track. Also stars Chis O'Dowd from the IT Crowd.
Yeah it was released in April or May of last year, and it was called "The Boat That Rocked" in the UK but later changed to "Pirate Radio" because marketing shows that Americans loves pirates. Actually, I have no idea why they changed the title, but did anybody find it weird that they didn't have any Beatles songs? I know that Beatles songs are extremely expensive but they could have used covers. It just seems odd that they didn't have anything of the biggest band at that time.
I am sure it had to do with the rights to those songs on the sound track, ancillary income is huge in these types of movies. DD
