I don't understand how these guys don't have any urgency to make a move like this, I mean I know this is all up to when Schobel is ready but damn at least show the guy your interested in his services from the jump. I can't see how they have so much confidence in their current players on that D Line.

They'll end up making a non move like the ones they didn't make for Brian Dawkins and Darren Sharper. As long as you're good at evaluating the talent you bring in thru free agency age does not matter. Running back would be the only position to take that into account.

Schobel isnt going to do the training camp stuff...like he said, he will need two weeks before the season starts.

If Schobel signs any contract, it'll look stupid if he doesnt show up to camp. Since he doesnt want to do that, there wont be any contract signed until Aaron is ready to suit up and play.

There really shouldnt be a rush from either standpoint. The Texans arent competing with any other teams for his services and Schobel has interest in Houston. When the time is right, things will come together.

There have already been articles published that say the Texans are interested. I dont know what else you would want Houston to do...its up to Aaron to decide when he wants to play.

Houston has to offer him a deal, that is something more they could do. Merely admitting interest means very little. Aaron has made it pretty clear that he wants to be here or retire.

Aaron is home relaxing...when he's ready to make a decision, the two sides can come together to negotiate. His contract will probably be as uncomplicated as possible...they could come to an agreement within a day. Until Aaron has made his decision, Houston offering a contract would be silly. You dont just randomly say, "hey, I know you havent made up your mind and you're going to relax for another couple weeks, but here's a 5 million dollar deal here if you want it."

The Texans have expressed interest, meaning that when Aaron and his agent are ready for a contract, they would get together and get it done.

The General should ring up Rick and ask him if he's contacted Schobel yet? If the answer is no, then he should ask why not.

And what the hell is wrong with that? Kubiak or R. Smith calling Schobel up and saying, "hey man, I know your takin this time to relax and make a decision, but when you're ready we have a contract right here ready and waiting for you." simple as that. Even the line coach Kollar who has more of a relationship with him could hit him up.

What could hurt our chances in doin that?

Who says that hasn't happened? The terms of the contract haven't been discussed....but what else does it mean when the Texans say they're interested? It's almost a certainty the Texans have reached out in some shape or form. The terms of the deal don't have to be discussed for that to take place.

What makes you think anyone would answer the calls of The General, he is the biggest schmuck in Houston sports journalism behind Dick Justice

GM John Schneider indicated that the Seahawks would "absolutely" have interest in OLB Aaron Schobel if the free agent ends up not signing in Houston.

"But it sounds like he's well on his way to Houston is basically what the message we've received (is)," added Schneider. "He can clearly still play." Schobel's reunion with Texans' assistant head coach/defensive line Bill Kollar seems inevitable. It's only a matter of time before he signs with his hometown team.

I'm surprised we haven't heard Denver jumping at getting him with Dumervil's season-ending injury.

Why do you think this isn't essentially the case?

It sounds like it's up to Aaron to decide if he's going to retire, or play. And if he decides to play, "Houston has a contract waiting for you" isn't exactly a mystery.

He'd be a 3-4 LB in Denver...pretty much one of the main reasons he didn't want to continue in Buffalo.

Looks like he's either playing for Houston or retiring. It'll be one of those two scenarios...and my bet is on Houston. Almost no doubt about it.

He will be a Texan before the season starts. Just a man who will get limited reps in Houston and doesn't want to tear his body up in training camp. Seems like a smart desicion on his part. We need another playmaker with Cushing being out for 4 games.

Sounds like a guy trying to get offers from several teams just so the Texans have to pay more. Or, he's using the Texans so that other teams will have to pry him away from his "hometown" team.
