[ESPN] Future Power Rankings: Teams 1-5 [Rockets AT #5]

It takes factors that these guys see as characteristics of a team that is likely to be successful in the future. It's a prediction and heavily opinionated though, so whatever.


Can someone with more free time then me list the rankings in each of the categories? I think it'd be interesting to see. I can't say for sure whether I agree that we are 11th in market without clearly seeing who's ahead and behind us.

 

as a TRUE rocket fan, tht statement sounds oxymoronic...

maybe as a rocket observer .. or a analyst .... it might be high but as a fan you have to believe in ur team .. thats what real fans do ..

The guy in the LA article said swapping Ariza, who is young and on the rise and was a crucial part of their title two years ago, for Artest was a shrewd move.

Fail.

The Lakers were lucky Artest didn't sink them. He certainly tried to.

Man, it's not bad enough they're a joke of an organization they also have no shame.

 

Can anybody tell me how the Clippers are #1 in the draft? Is it because they draft #1 each year? Or will they be projected to draft #1 for years to come?

 

Without Yao, we're media darlings to the hardcore press (the internet) but conveniently ignored by the mainstream. The mainstream only care the relevant, the young, and the terrible (can't stop looking at a train wreck).

 

They've been drafting solidly and will probably have high picks. That's why Miami, LA and NYK are at the bottom. Lack of picks.

 

What does the future mean, in the scope of this article? Like, the next 4-5 years?

I think it'll be the Heat and Thunder, from the East and West, respectively.

Why don't I say the Heat and Rockets? Because even if Yao is 100%, he IS getting older. The Thunder have such a young and good core. It isn't like they are all young and scrubby (ie, the GSW).

 

The Timberwolves owe the Clippers a potentially unprotected first round draft pick in 2012 (top 10 protected in 2011). That's a huge asset, just like the Jazz owning the Knicks pick in 2010 was perceived the same way.

 

If Yao is healthy that is about right...if not they are overrating the Rockets.

So what's your point? That you can't support your favorite team unless they're a lock to make the Finals?

 

We beat them in the playoffs, and we've gotten better since then.
