I thought it was cool, but nothing amazing. Definitely a different twist for sure. My wife and brother in law were like what the hell. Wife went to sleep and bro in law just watched to finish it and see what was going on.

it seems like i've heard generally positive things about this movie but nothing super positive, but i just checked IMDB and it's got an 8.2 rating and is #177 all time. seriously? is it that good?

I thought she was cool, but I was bored with her shtick after about 30 minutes and it just went on and on. I also enjoyed Nic Cage's Adam West/Batman homage when he was Big Daddy. I was just really expecting to like it and I thought the plot was silly, the writing was formulaic and bland (exactly what you'd expect in any Hollywood machine coming of age movie, except even more cliched) and the acting was ho hum.

It wasn't top ten worst - that was hyperbole, it's true. But I struggled to even make it to the end. It was pretty much everything I hate about Hollywood movies and, as superhero movies go, I thought it was about as bad as "Superhero Movie."

And after all that hype. Just a major letdown.

I saw Kick Ass after I saw Iron Man 2; I thought Kick Ass was better. I've been reading the comics recently, the movie was fairly faithful. I enjoyed it a lot.

Note to self: ignore Batman Jones' opinion regarding superhero movies.

I don't think it's hyperbole to say it was in my top 10 letdowns though. I was really looking forward to seeing this and I just kept waiting to find something to like about it and kept being disappointed.

As the genre goes (comedy/action movie about real people trying to be superheroes), Mystery Men was about a million times better, funnier, more interesting, and featured better writing and acting. And even that movie was barely better than mediocre.

Different strokes for different folks. You like formulaic Hollywood blockbusters; I like good movies with good writing, acting and directing. Don't hate.

Wow, that's pretentious, even for this board.

How many movies have been like Kick ass? It was hardly formulaic. How exactly was the acting as poor as you are making it out to be? If you can't enjoy a fun movie where a little girl has a potty mouth and slaughters dozens of bad guys, you must not find much joy in life.

I didn't really think the acting was "bad," just boring and predictable like the film itself. You'd be surprised at how much joy there is to be had in life even apart from 'fun movies where a little girl has a potty mouth.'

How is that possible? Internet message boards are the best possible medium for conveying subtle humor!

People its simple, you go to the movies to be entertained.

What most people think is passable entertainment is the problem.
