I personally think they can make the WCF.

I just don't see the talent in the Western conference. I think the Lakers are the class and then who else?

Phoenix, SA, Dallas all look old and Okc and Portland are too young and overrated at this point. Denver/Utah are potential threats (and Jefferson in Utah killed me as the Okur to the 3 pt line and Jefferson destroying Yao scares me).

I think we could make the WCF. We've also got the assets Center/Point to defeat LA esp with Ariza/Battier and the junk we can throw at Kobe.

If Yao gives us 25-28 min a game of him being somewhat the Yao of old, I think we are the second best team in the west.

If Yao is either not able to return to form, or gets injured again I think we could make the first round, maybe win depending on matchup.

Assuming no trades here of course.

We will win the championship when we get Melo or CP3.

Seriously, I think as is and assuming Yao is limited to 20 mins a game, we will probably be the 5th seed at worst.

We should approach the season with a Doc Rivers Celtics mentality. Don't worry about the seedings and limit everyones minutes even if they are healthy so they can be fully charged for the postseason.

I think the Suns and Jazz will take a dip and fight for the last playoff seed.

    1. Lakers
    2. Thunder
    3. Mavericks
    4. Rockets
    5. Blazers
    6. Nuggets
    7. Spurs
    8. Jazz

Rematch of the 08 1st round series vs. Blazers!

Also, I really don't think the Suns make it this year. They really needed to replace the 20-10 output of Amare and failed. Turkoglu, Warrick and Childress aint gonna cut it. They also lost Barbosa for peanuts and I think they should have gone after Boozer or Lee.

I expect 50 wins, and a strong first round showing. Assuming a decent matchup, a second round appearance.

I think we'd need a major trade for an All Star forward (3, 4, or F/C) to threaten for the title.

I disagree on the Lakers. They really can't hold Yao and we really can't hold Pau. I think we do ok in that department. No body can hold Kobe, but Battier/Ariza could be the best attempt at it. The have no answer for Brooks.

The Jazz gave us fits because of the Boozer/Okur combo. Yao couldn't cover either of them. I don't think Milsap or Jefferson can be as effective as Boozer was. Of course they still have Deron Williams and are certianly not an easy win.

Our only downfall last season was the lack of presence in the paint. Hill has the size, but not the presence. IMO, getting Miller solved that problem. That way we have a very good chance at finishing the season with an experienced center which would allow us to advance deep into the playoffs, possibly wiining it all. As i said, all we needed was an experienced center who knows how to affect shots and Hill is not there yet. Hill would make a much better PF than he would a center. Even though they didn't make it to the playoffs, the team showed that they could definitely advance with a center, not necessarily Yao.

Losing in game 7 of the 2nd round to the Lakers.

However, getting the concession prize of drafting Harrison Barnes with the No. 2 pick in the NBA draft after the Knicks jump up in the NBA Lottery.

i agree - no yao and we are first round fodder. if everyone is healthy i think we can get to the WC and the homer in me thinks we can get to the finals...why not??? so i voted finals.

we are two deep at every position and miller gives us more size to match up against l.a. with - we will be dangerous when playoff come around.

That's awesome. A cleverly disguised way of hyping Cbud by decrying the very act of hyping.

I'll put down WC finals with a reasonable chance of getting to the NBA finals. I'll put my faith that the Zydrunas surgery has restored Yao and that Adelman will manage his minutes so he can come on strong at the end of the season.

Seriously. Was everyone joking when they voted?

What kind of expectations are these? People are going to be acting like it's the apocalypse every time we lose a game.

Good point here. And this year we have the depth to do that and still make the playoffs without overloading on minutes. In years past, we didn't have enough firepower to sit our starters for too long.

My hope is that we stay healthy, especially Yao.
My expectation on the team is that, like in the past few years, we give it our best in every single game.
My expectation on Morey is that he manages to pull off that monster trade that puts us over the hump ;).
