After watching the U.S team lose again I was wondering how would a healthy Rockets team w/o Ming and Boki have done in the World Championships? This has been a very long off-season and I'm desperate to see the Rockets on the court again.

they would have had a 4-2 record at this point. I think they could have won some games, they do have a shot at winning it all. but the way the US team got beat some foriegn teams might be better than some nba teams.....thats sad. But i think the rockets could be ok. Not the best but 3rd best in my opinion.

Man maybe if my thread title was like this it wouldn't have gotten locked. I can be so dumb at times.(i know you guys are gonna take advantage of what i just said.

I think the Rockets would win the gold. I think most NBA teams would.

Rest assured that the Sacremento Kings would destroy Yugoslavia.

Definitely Gold. The reasons that team USA bit a shi^ brick are that they are not a team, they are coached by George Karl, and they have no chemistry. Most NBA teams would win Gold. A team like Utah would dessimate competition with their pick and rolls.

Vlade was right when he said that international basketball is a different game than the NBA game. I think Yugoslavia and Argentina would beat MANY NBA teams if they played in this tournament. Of course, the Lakers would destroy all of these teams, but most other teams would have a hard time overcoming the experience factor of the other teams.

I've always said a decent team can beat an all-star team that hasn't played together for awhile. I think the Rockets would win it all.

with both Steve, and Cat, and perhaps Ming, Houston can beat at least Russia, Germany, New Zeland, and perhaps Argentina. It would be a close match with Yugoslavia.

Anyway, we can do better than the Dream 5.

I think the Rockets would have won it all and I think it's truly a shame that the Cat and Wink got snubbed. But owell what can you do.

The Rockets would have gotten their ass kicked. The zone defense would have killed the penetration and the no skills Cato would have been played just like Vlade did Ben Wallace. I do think the ideal situation is having the team that wins the nba championship go play in the worlds. If that team refuses, go to the runner up. In case a player doesn't want to play, replace him with another player. If a team like the kings were to win it and represent, the team would have had to replace Divac, peja and Hedo, but with pierce, finley and J'Oneal. Although they would be replacing major pieces, they would still perform better as a team than the one that lost.

Not that it would make a big difference, but you should also take OT off the rockets as well.

I agree. At times it seemed guys were more interested in individual statistics than in the team game. Guys would let their opponent blow by them for the opportunity to get a blocked shot. Guys would go for the steal rather than for the proper positioning. I think their main problem was they were all trying to play like some sort of superstar instead of a teammate.

The Rockets of last year would have performed the same way they performed against any team that played team basketball last year - they would have lost big in an affair dominated by the patented one on five offense, the 6'10" player spotting up for the three, the 6'7" player playing in the post, and lots of 24 second violations even with a three guard offense.
    :)

OMG! The rockets didnt even have a .500 record why in the hell would you think they would beat other national teams best players. 75% percent of the time we (rockets) dont even play team ball. Give me a break the Rockets (at this point) are no dream team. Cut the CRAPOLA already!

    Yeah.

Rockets could win the world championship.

USA high school team could rule them too.

Even my WNBA could win that big cup if they don't mind sex.

But the 5th Dream team lost.

    Is there any more dream?

we get our asses handed to us by sacramento, which is like yugoslavia. there is no way in hell they would win gold even with ming and boki.

i cant belive some people. usa high school team would beat national teams like argentina and yugo? what? give some respect.

no, houston would win a game or two, but gold? are you joking? maybe a team like the lakers, sac town, and dallas but the rockets? im sorry.

How would the ROckets have won gold? If that USA team was a team in the nba they would go probably 82-0 during the regular season. Its not the best players in the nba, but all are in the top 30 maybe.
