Do we have any Roster space?
    1. Olajuwon
    2. Francis
    3. Anderson
    4. Cato
    5. Williams
    6. Thomas
    7. Mobley?
    8. Massenburg
    9. Collier
    10. Rogers
    11. Langhi
    12. Drew
    13.Morris
    14. Austin or Rashard
    15. Big man project

Does anyone else think if the Rockets signed a healthy Massenburg he could start over any forward we have Thomas might challenge but he can't give us some floor running like Massenburg does anyone remember that highlight he had when Cuttino threw him an around the back pass for the dunk sweet?

I think that Tony Massenburg would be a good pickup for us, but do we have any money to sign him? Kenny didnt' run the floor all that bad; he was actually quite decent. If he works out and works on his conditioning over the summer, I think he can run the floor pretty well next year.

But in regards to Massenburg, we have Thomas, Rogers, Collier, Langhi? all capable of playing the pf position. There wont be any roster space for Massenburg.

Williams and Drew have to go and the others SF will have to fight for the positions especially Massenberg(for not being able to play last year.)
If we get Austin, Collier and Drew will be gone to Indiana.
    Isn't there injured reserve players?
What is the total amount of players allowed on the team including IR?
The way I see it happening, Williams, Drew,Collier and Massenberg are gone with the single addition of Austin.
These are my possible 12 players.
    1. Olajuwon
    2. Francis
    3. Anderson
    4. Cato
    5. Austin
    6. Thomas
    7. Mobley
    8. Rogers
    9. Langhi
    10.Norris
11.Lewis(unlikely)This could be Williams if we can't get rid of him.(Contract way to big next year!)
12.Big man project?Who? IF any Massenberg at this spot,or some of the others guys in summer camp for Rudy!OR maybe the Bullard Machine(unlikely).

I'm almost certain that Massenberg qualifies for full bird rights so we have enough money to retain him. I would put him at the top of our list of PFs, certainly above any that you mentioned snowman! Injuries aside, Massenberg has shown he can be a starter in the NBA.

You forgot Bullard, who is already under contract with the team. Pig Miller is a free agent, but wasn't mentioned. If the season started today, with the Rockets making no new acquisitions and only signing their free agents and draftees, I think it looks like this:

    DEPTH
    -----
    5. Olajuwan/Cato/(Miller)
    4. Thomas/(Collier)/Bullard/Rogers
    3. Williams/(Langhi)
    2. Anderson/(Mobley)
    1. Francis/Norris/Drew

    ROTATION
    --------
    1. Francis
    2. Anderson
    3. Williams
    4. Thomas
    5. Olajuwan
    6. Cato
    7. (Mobley)
    8. Norris
    9. Bullard
    10. (Collier)
    11. (Langhi)
    12. Rogers
    -----------
    IR. (Miller)
    IR. Drew

I can't see Massenburg getting resigned, although I can see Pig seeing spot minutes at the 4 and 5. I think to start the season, the rookies are at the bottom of the rotation, although I think they see time before Rogers because of their shooting skills. Eventually, I think the rookies move ahead of Bullard to prepare them for the future. I think Thomas starts the season at the 4, but may end up coming off the bench with Collier starting. If Williams struggles with his shot, I can see Shandon starting at the 3 with Mobley starting at the 2.

To be honest, I don't think the roster changes much this season. I think the Rockets are setting themselves up for a big offseason next year.

Someone like a Croshere or Lewis might be signed and there might be a minor trade involving Drew, Williams or Rogers, but I don't think any major deals will be struck. The acquisition of a Croshere or Lewis type this season might make the team more appealing to a top free agent next year.

Of course, I could be completely wrong about everything. [IMG]

I just checked, and we do in fact have full bird rights on TMass.

Collier is Seven Foot and Left Handed. How can you go wrong?
    Trade or bench Kenny Thomas.

    NIKEstrad,

So the Rockets could pay him 9 million even though they are over the salary cap?

He is going elsewhere next season.

Mango-I'm dissapointed in you. Because TMass has played for 8 seasons, we can offer TMass 11 million, not 9.

I'm afraid I just assimilated your capology career. [IMG]

    NIKEstrad,

    Maybe so.

However, if the thread that MManal had going about using a trick 1 year contract for R Lewis turns out in my favor, you were assimilated first.

If Massenburg is healthy how do they not retain him?

Massenburg fits well with the Rockets & Kenny Thomas showed flashes but Massenburg is ideal if capable of playing.

I had the luxury of seeing this guy Work out & play a few of times up close, before his injuries took over & I thought he fit extremely well with the Rockets he could play 5 minutes of a quarter & make a serious impact.
