if you don't take defense into consideration, sure they're pretty much similar in terms of production. But Gasol has been able to clog the paint in a way that Bosh can never do.
Statistically they may be close, but in actual impact on the game - defensively and offensively, Gasol is a superior impact player.
I see a lot of Toronto games having lived in Canada so I know what Bosh is all about. I can confidently say that Bosh is not the player that Gasol is. The Raptorian one has an average lefty hook, an average turnaround jumper, a terrific face up game, and an elite driving game at his position. He needs the ball all the time to be effective, although early last year he seemed committed to crashing the boards (both on offense and defense) and his team was better for it. The crashing didn't last long though, as it became painfully obvious that the Raptors weren't going anywhere. His post defense is suspect because he has average to below average strength at the PF spot. His perimeter defense is quite good for a big man because of his agility and his length. Gasol is bigger and stronger than Bosh, but is not as quick and athletic. He makes up for his affinity for the ground with his savvy in the high, mid, and low post areas. He has better handles and much better court awareness than his Heat counterpart. Gasol boasts a more consistent jumpshot and, as was mentioned earlier in the thread, a plethora of post moves. He is an excellent pick setter because he rolls hard to the basket and can finish in traffic (he always keeps the ball up high). He defends the post better than Bosh because he knows how to use his size to wedge opposing players from their spots. Gasol, in my opinion, is the more complete player and can get his points just as prolifically as Bosh can, except in a different fashion. He can also contribute to an offense with his passing and screen setting. He defends well at his position and can hit open shots with regularity. To me, he's the premier traditional PF in the league. Bosh has a lot to learn if he wants to compare to Pau.
That's a tough question. It'd be an interesting matchup to watch in the playoffs. Right now, I'd take Gasol, only because he's played well in big games and Bosh has yet to be put in those situations.
the difference is not so significant because Bosh was the 12th best player last season with better stats Pau as the second banana is there 8-10, not so much different Pau has the advantage of having a better overall game. Bosh has the length to compete and is better on the boards and scoring. Slight advantage to Ostrichsol
sorry I had to lol. I admit Gasol has been tougher than 2008 but he is not a defensive player. Come on. I would still call him soft, will always, but he has improved. length of Bynum and strength of Artest is helping him a lot. Not a fan at all.
True. Or if you asked people 3 years ago when the Celts frontcourt manhandled him and the Lakers. But the last two playoffs Gasol has played well and competed hard. So edge to him. But it isn't like Bosh couldn't turn this around, we will see.
I have to say CHRIS BOSH because he is more athletic and maybe a bit better defensively than Paul Gasol. They are both soft. If I have to pick one player for the Rockets, I will definitely pick BOSH because his game compliments our team better.
