Shouldve put this in the sticky Random Trade Ideas thread... Probably would be my dream lineup, easily top 3 in the league in my opinion.. but I would erase the whole thing if Lowry has to go for Ford!
Wow, our ENTIRE supporting cast for 2 stars that are rumored to come here mostly because of wishful thinking posters. Nah I don't mean to rag on you too much, but it's pretty freakin crazy.
I was referring more to what you would have them give up for Shane. I know with the big 3 getting up there in age they are in win now mode but still...
I present you the mega-blockbuster trade of summer 2010. I've spent a good amount of time looking up the numbers and salaries. Please read all my points before making harsh comments. The salaries match and through ESPN Trade Machine the trade is "accepted" so please don't create confusion about the numbers because I am going post a link below. The teams involved: Houston, New Orleans, Philadelphia, and Denver http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2f757nf Houston Chris Paul ($14.9M) [2 Year] James Posey ($6.4M) [2 Year] Total Salary: $21.3M Outlook: Rockets acquire Chris Paul - the premiere point-guard in the League. Also Posey is a fine replacement for Battier who will be dearly missed for his hustle and energetic play. This move should put Houston in contention for the West and make it an equal match for Los Angeles. New Orleans Aaron Brooks ($2.0M) [1 Year] Jordan Hill ($2.6M) [1 Year] Chuck Hayes ($1.9M) [1 Year] Jared Jeffries ($6.8M) [1 Year] Kenyon Martin ($16.5M) [1 Year] 2011 Houston first-round draft pick (*swap with NY) 2012 Houston first-round draft pick (*swap with NY) Total Salary: $30.1M Outlook: Paul is looking to get out of NOLA, that has become certain maybe not now but in 2 years for sure. New Orleans doesn't have the cap flexibility or trade assets to make a move a for another potential superstar to pair with Paul. With this in mind, there is no doubt the Hornets will at some point seriously consider moving Paul if two things happen: 1) They receive a young nucleus of talent and picks to replenish. 2) They can dump the bad contracts of Okafor and Posey in the process to clean house. Well the Rockets meet the first criteria with Brooks - an up and coming all-star in the making and Jordan Hill, a young and athletic PF. Also the Hornet receive 2 first round picks in which one could be a top 5 pick (2011) via NY or a top 10 pick in 2012 and beyond via NY.On the second point, the Hornets dump $25M with expiring contracts of K-Mart, Hayes, and, Jeffries. Plus with another $15M expiring through Peja, the Hornets could be $35M under the cap to resign Brooks and an add another key free agent next summer. Not a bad deal if the Hornet want to quickly rebuild through free agency and the draft. Philadelphia Nene Hilario ($11.3M) [1 Year] J.R. Smith (6.7M) [1 Year] Ty Lawson ($1.5M) [1 Year] Renaldo Balkman ($1.6M) [1 Year] Shane Battier ($7.3M) [1 Year] 2012 Denver first-round draft pick Total Salary: $28.7M Outlook: Philadelphia is in a semi-rebuild mode, meaning they have some good young talent but their cap space is being killed by the $52M owed to Brand over 3 years. Plus, Iguodala has become expendable now that Evan Turner has been drafted. Ideally Philly would like equal talent in return for Iggy but then very few team have the room and guts to absorb Brand's atrocious deal. With this trade the Sixer start to rebuild the team around Turner, Young, and Williams. The expiring contracts make Philly a player in next summer's market with $30M to spend in free agency. I could see Philadelphia taking the poison pill and starting over with cap space and an extra draft pick from Denver which is due in 2012, so if Melo decides to leave, the Nuggets should be a top flight lottery team. I like this move for the simple fact that Philly rebuilds efficiently rather than wait 3 years for Brand to expire and then watch Iguodala rot out his prime and regress. Denver Andre Iguodala ($12.3M) [4 Year] Elton Brand ($15.9M) [3 Year] Emeka Okafor ($11.4M) [4 Year] Total Salary: $39.8M Outlook: Denver is in a pretty tough situation with the looming free agency of Melo in 2011. With choked up cap room and no trade assets other than expiring contracts, the Nuggets are going to have to take a gamble to provide Melo with a contender. In the process the Nuggets must absorb 2 long term bad contracts in Brand and Okafor but the silver lining is Iguodala in the same back-court with Billups and Melo. On paper it looks inferior to the 3 Kings but in terms of competing with Kobe and the Lakers in the West, this move does address most of the issues. First, the Nuggets add more scoring punch to relieve Melo. Now Brand is similar to K-Mart, often injured and on the decline so that's a wash. Okafor is identical to Nene in terms of low post defense without much offense. So in the end the Nuggets get another scorer in Iguodala and add 3 more years of salary to pay for a similar frontcourt. Not the best deal in the world but it makes the Nuggets more competitive in the West and hopefully convinces Melo to stay around for a few more years.
New Orleans already has Collison. They don't want another PG in Brooks, who cannot slide over to the 2 guard either.
I don't think Denver would be willing to take on Brand and Okafor. Especially since they have Al Harrington.
I dont think the Rockets should give up AB. I guarantee you that if we trade him, he will eat us up everytime we play against him. Houston is known for aquiring players, shipping them out and them becoming all stars and we're stuck saying "dang, we shoulda kept that guy." AB hasnt reached his prime yet and he's already one of the best PGs out there
wasn't that the plan this year with Cousins? seriously though...the way they follow kids these days kids they are anointed before they even hit high school. unfortunately, it seems morey's talent evalution favors developed talent... Cousins was a real departure from the norm...but apparently he had been anointed.
I don't see any team besides the Rockets liking this deal. NOLA - won't want AB, won't want Paul to stay in the division. If it's a 4 team deal, they are going to want some parts moved around to suit them better. Philly - basically dumping two contracts (one ok, one bad) for a 1st rounder. I'm thinking they'd want more. Denver - Too many big contracts.
This is sadistic, but maybe Deron Williams has had enough and would want out of Utah. Brooks+Hill+Jeffries+Ariza+2012 first rounder for Deron Williams and Mehmet Okur. They get a lot of young assets as they may come down to the realization that they have to rebuild. Mehmet is older now and coming off an injury. However, he could play alongside Yao, Miller or Scola in the front court. He is also a decent defender and rebounder. Utah gets a young up and comer in Brooks, an expiring defensive player, and a guy in Ariza who probably play effectively next to Hayward. Williams/Lowry Martin/Taylor Battier/Budinger Scola/Okur Yao/Miller/Okur
Yes! the Jazz should admit the sky is falling after having to part ways with Boozer, Korver, and Matthews. They should dump the 26 year old Deron Williams who proved last year during the playoffs he is possibly the most dominant PG in the game in exchange for 25 year old Aaron Brooks who was just awarded MIP. Then, the Jazz should most definitely drop Okur after picking up Jefferson even though their games complimentary in exchange for a project that didn't have amazing reviews this summer in Jordan Hill. Sweeten the deal by creating a small log jam with Ariza, Jefferies' expiring, and a pick in a couple years, then sure! why not. 2010 Jazz: Brooks/Ronnie Price/Sundiata Gaines C.J. Miles/Raja Bell Kirilenko/Ariza/Hayward Al Jefferson/Paul Millsap Jefferies/Hill vs. Deron Williams/Ronnie Price/Sundiata Gaines C.J. Miles/Raja Bell Kirilenko/Hayward Al Jefferson/Paul Millsap Okur Brilliant.
