Shaq has signed with the Celtics for the veterans minimum. It seems like only 2 teams were even trying to offer him that much. I know Shaq isnt what he used to be, but with us needing centers, would it have been better to pick up Shaq, than to chas Brad Miller?
I think it would have been great for Yao to have someone like Shaq to practice against regularly. Also, shaq could pro bablhy teach Yao how to get good position and demand the ball in the post. I would have liked the Rockets to have tried for Shaq, instead of getting in a bidding war for Brad Miller.
I don't understand why we make threads about players that just signed with a new team and then making a thread "Should we have pursued ______"
Shaq hasn't been receiving glowing reports from his past coaches... There was tension in the Cleveland locker room from him getting more minutes in key games than Hickson or Z when he was being easily exposed on pick and roll defense. He wasn't going to start here which is what he wanted. Plus he wouldn't fit in well with the offense Rick runs.
NO! Once again, a FA is on the market and somebody wants us to pick him up! Give it a break people. Please stop creating a thread for every FA that comes on the market and if/how we should pick him up. Look at our roster and be happy. Can you at least wait til Jan before we start saying what we need and where we have holes?
It doesn't make sense to get a C that has the exact same weaknesses as Yao. Plus, he'd be useless at the top of the key. Plus, I don't think the drama is any where near the benefit he might bring.

Yao already does well against teams with other large centers (Orlando, Portland, Shaq over the years). He needs help going against smaller quicker centers... You could be right on point #2, but I don't think this is a major area of needed improvement for Yao either.
Does anyone watch the games anymore? Did the OP actually watch some Cavs or Suns games and see just how much Shaq has declined and what a distraction he is to the flow of the offense? FWIW, I actually like Shaq in Boston. If there ends up being a Miami/Boston showdown in the East, Shaq might actually be effective as an interior presence with Garnett against a Heat team who is very very thin in the post. Bosh isn't particuarly tough or a good defender and after that Haslem is undersized as a 4 anyway(and not particuarly exceptional at anything). Then we are talking about Joel Anthony as the first guy off the bench(yikes).
i voted no, why bring in shaq when we already got miller who knows aldeman's offense. shaq will just be unhappy and cause drama in the locker room over playing time or not enough shots for him.
