Just finish the first season in two days...What a GREAT show! Can't wait for the second season. Anyone watched it? Abed and Senor Chang are my favourite characters <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JgvRfmo8Ock&hl=zh_CN&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/JgvRfmo8Ock&hl=zh_CN&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

Then you guys are both weird. Really, really weird. Although if the original guy is just talking about the clip in the OP -- yeah, that wasn't funny. There's a long thread we had running about the show that has obviously dropped down since the first season ended. At first it was alright.. but man did it grow on me. Community and Parks were the best two shows on NBC last year -- and I'm not sure which one I liked more.
ive never watched this or the other show i think parks and recreation, how do they stack up against, the likes of modern family and 30 rock, i would include AD but nothing stacks up to that
I tried watching both modern family and 30 rock. I enjoyed both, but neither was really my style of humor. That said, I LOVED the first season of community. The comedy is more physical and the jokes are almost rapid fire. The characters are very interesting, and all of them are lovable. There's a lot of pop culture references ,so if you aren't at least a little familiar with pop culture you may not understand entire episodes. I know a lot of people who have watched it and aren't crazy about it, though. I can't really understand why though. To each their own I suppose. It's definitely worth a try. Oh, and two more reasons to watch: Spoiler and Spoiler
I like the show. It started off a bit slow for me, but as the season progressed, it got better. It felt like it took the writers a bit to hit their stride.

Parks and Rec is the best comedy on network TV imo, followed by Modern Family. (Cable shows like Sunny and Curb are better). I don't care for 30 rock too much, so I would probably rank both ahead of that. This is where I disagree, that is probably the biggest reason I do not care for the show, most of the characters just irritate me, particularly the Indian/Pakistani(?) guy and Chevy Chase's character
Personally I think AD is overrated by the cult -- it was a good series with a lot of hidden jokes you had to watch often to get.. but it never really had me laughing all the way through an episode. Modern Family and Parks & Recreation are comedies in The Office mold.. faux reality shows where the characters talk and interact with the camera/audience. Community is it's own type of show, IMO.. a lot of the episodes seem to be centered around pop culture references (The Halloween batman, the action-movie parody they did with paintballs, etc.). Each week there seems to be a new 'type' of episode -- and I've loved just about all of them. As someone said before, there are several characters that you could love/find hilarious (Abet, Troy, Pierce are probably my top 3). I also don't understand why more people don't like it.. but you should give it a fair shot and watch a good chunk of the season. As most good comedies, it takes a while to develop the characters fully and hit it's stride (I hate saying that.. such a cliche when discussing tv series!) For instance, at first Chevy Chase's character annoyed me but by the end, I thought he was one of the most hilarious. I shouldn't have said Community and Parks were the two best -- I also loved Modern Family. I think all three rank up as the best comedies on tv last season. I know a lot of people love 30 Rock, but I never really felt it was in the same class as the others.
Community is funny, Senor Chang should return to teaching, and the principle needs more air time with Joel. That said, I think Modern Family, Cougar Town, Rules of Engagement, and 30 Rock are funnier. This upcoming season, Community will be up against Big Bang Theory -- "HCC" vs "MIT;" and I will be watching BBT during the regular season, Community during the summer re-runs. I am also looking forward to Bl**p My Dad and the final season of Smallville.
