There are some truly terrible people there, but they provide LoLz. No need to go there, just enjoy the memes when they make their way elsewhere....for now anyway because sooner or later the FBI is gonna start figuring out who's posting all the child p*rn on there and then the whole place will be shut down and we'll have to rely on Something Awful and Reddit.
4chan is an acquired taste. at surface level, it's what offends you. once you see it at the next level, you understand why it offends you and it no longer is offensive.

Honestly, I didn't check them out. This thread was an initial reaction to seeing all of the stuff for the first time. Being shocked and disgusted then makingn this thread immediately after. I guess like you guys said it's an acquired taste, but I don't think I enjoy the thought of becoming so accustomed to seeing that kind of material that it doesn't shock me anymore. I'm not going to discredit the site just because it offends me (as well as many more people I'm sure). It has spawned a lot of creativity in some areas as well and I'll be the first to admit that I LMAO to many of the memes generated by it. I guess I just wasn't prepared to realize that it was also a breeding ground for so many twisted individuals and seeing such an abundance of them made me react this way.
The point is you are letting one subsection (granted a section that has more traffic than every other subsection) completely influence your view of a much larger entity. What does that remind you of?
