You could put them in the freezer...then when the lights go out and it gets really hot...you'll have beercicles.
1. It's less than 150mi from the coast, an inhibiting factor. It hasn't gotten better organized today. 2. Low surface pressures are a result of a developing storm, not the factor that causes them to develop. 3. Just like I've said before, it will be a rain event. Whether or not the rain is needed is another story. 4. Actually, for tropical systems, the diurnal convective cycle is greatest at night...convection actually tends to die down during the day. Daytime heating fuels thunderstorms off of the seabreeze and on land, not in a tropical system. It's rotating now, yes, but it's too close to the coast to make any sort of large impact as a tropical system. It may develop into a tropical depression...but I still don't think it will. Most of the on camera people at the weather channel aren't meteorologists....some are, but a good number of them just hold communications degrees. To talk about the weather, that's really all you need - well, that and a basic understanding of reading a weather map. Ultimate job for a meteorology major is heading a research department or the meteorology program at one of the more prestigious meteorology schools in the nation...essentially, you get your choice of the best new students out there to make you look good! High-level government jobs are also desireable...though I wouldn't mind flying into hurricanes myself. As for Pole's comment - Twister's a good movie, but it's really not representative of the weather or tornadoes in general...just too many factual errors. It has drawn up a lot of interest in meteorology, though.
Hmmm....apparently it is going to get upgraded to T.D. 6 at 5pm, but I truthfully don't see why. It's exactly like Edouard - a weak low with all of the convection displaced to the east. We'll see what that says...but I can't imagine it's very strong.
no as of 3p.m it was a depression, and they said its location is favorable for strengthening. And it will sit there for the next 2 days. My previous predictions were.....it would be a T.D between 12-2. i was of by 1 hour. The other it would be a storm by tommorow morning. And i said it would hit land on friday or saturady. And i said this last night at 3:00am when it was a batch of rain. Looks like another successful predication once again.

Well, I seriously didn't think it'd form. And, judging by the 5pm discussion...it really shouldn'tve been classified: If the circulation doesn't meet the qualifications for a vortex message, it isn't closed. The definition of a tropical depression is that the circulation must be closed, which it apparently wasn't, even though they initiated advisories. But no matter...I was wrong on this one. I still don't think it'll develop much more, though...it's looked fairly unimpressive over time.

ok sonny i'll tell you. since the high pressure in the middle of the atlantic has weakend ther emight be a pontential storm forming of the coast of africa. Not 100% more like 50. and it won't hit land and if it did i say the carribbean islands will be it. Other than that if the edwardo.(spell check) continues on its wsw movement it will regenerate, becasue the sheer will die down
Before Allison I was a tropical storm nut too. I love a good squall line like the next guy. But I hate these damn slow movers that either sit stationary over us or barely inch on by. Edouard's moving west and expected to turn WNW...and in any case, it's moving towards the tropical storm, which would only enahnce the shear and probably suck all of the life (what little is left) out of it. Give the wave off of Africa 2 days and it'll be gone...looks good now, I admit, but there's too much subsidence out there and it should die quickly.

Hmm....sustained winds increased to 60 mph since 8 am. Possibly will be a hurricane by the time it makes landfall. (Somewhere around Brazoria/Matagorda counties). Damn SF, maybe you've found your calling.
when i left the house this morning they were talking about sustained winds around 35 miles per hour...now they're talking about 60mph...wonder what it will be by 5 tonight??
