Last year Steve Nash led the NBA in assists and assist percentage, ranked in the top-10 of TS% for the 7th year in a row, posted a 21.6 PER vs. Brooks' 16.0 and was named to the All-NBA 2nd team. I don't think he was out of line in suggesting that you were being a homer by claiming Brooks was better.

Amen. I don't know if I would call him awful, but he really isn't as good as Calvin. Calvin and Bill played perfectly off each other, and that is the combo was what most of us grew up on during the rockets Hakeem glory years. I like Drexler, but as a guest commentator.

If the Rockets bust out of the gate like they are capable of and there is no clear cut superstar on the team, then Brooks has a good shot at making the all star team.

It is fine to express your opinions, but at least have some common sense about it if you don't want to be ridiculed. AB can barely crack the top 5 point guards in the West, much less the entire NBA. In the West, I can already tick off at least 5 NBA players of better or comparable talent:

    - Chris Paul (duh)
    - Deron Williams (duh again)
    - Chauncy Billups
    - Russell Westbrook
    - Stephen Curry
    - Steve Nash
    - Tony Parker (if he recovers)

There is no question that the range and speed of AB's game is in the upper echelon of great PG's, but his Nashesque defense and severely limited court vision is still holding him back. I will freely admit and rejoice that he has expanded his offensive game by adding different gears (hesitation steps, step back jumpers, ect) and finishes better with that weird spinning layup and circus floaters he does, but it is going to be a very steep uphill climb from now on when you look at his court vision and ability to handle the team offense. Brooks has glaring shortcomings and unless you are a homer, you can easily see that and conclude he is nowhere near being a top 5 NBA talent.

Brooks should have been an All-Star PG last year already. They pick Kidd over him?? C'mon!! Crazy.

Everyone does remember that Brooks should have been an All-Star last season, the only reason he wasn't was the All-Star Game was in Arlington, so they elected Kidd. I still haven't understood why people on clutchfans continue to downgrade Brook's ability what all that he did and accomplished last season, which is why if the All-Star Game was anywhere else, he would have been an All-Star.

Brooks did good last year because he was the primary scoring option on a team in dire need of scorers. Anyone who knows anything about basketball will know that there is more to the game than dropping points. Brooks had a pretty bad assist/turn over ratio and can give up as many points as he scores. He also hardly gets to the free throw line, getting most of his points of jump shots. If a player like Brooks (and Ariza) are the top scorers of your team, you are in trouble in for the playoffs. No one is discounting Brook's contributions, it is just that most of us aren't blinded homers and able to see the bigger picture.

the only way he'll make it is if china votes him in. if not, he'll never make it.

not b/c he's not deserving, but there are too many very good to great PGs in the west.

I think we should chant "MVP! MVP!" when he shoots free throws this year.

Shouldn't the season opener be nationally televised?

    Make it happen.

I think Brooks should have made the all star team last season.

Giving it to an over the hill Kidd? The only reason why he got to be on the freakin team was because it was in Dallas!

Yep. They'll probably give the NBA Championship to one of the two teams where the Finals are played too. Seems like that happens every year.

I'd rather have Aaron Brooks on my team any day than Jason Kidd. Wouldn't you?

It's silly to get into ranking point guards. Brooks is a fantastic "Adelman-style" point guard. He was the team's best player last year. He may well be the team's best player THIS year. 'Nuff said.

Q: What did Aaron Brooks study in college?

A: He was an English major. Right? You get it?

I don't know about All Star, unless he quickly becomes China's second favorite player on the team.

But I really don't see his numbers getting too much higher than last year, if Yao returns to high level form. If not he has a chance.

I agree with Clyde on the Heat, I don't see what the big fuss is about. The Celts and Lakers of the 80s were the first teams that came to mind with having more than 2 HOFs on one team. And Bosh isn't even considered that. So they have 2. *shrug*

He probably was an all star last year, but the HOUSTON HATE took over.

Would he be an all-star in the East?

    Rondo
    Wade
    Rose
    J Johnson
    M Williams
    ....

I don't know the east that well.
