Well I think its just different from person to person. I've been following the Rockets since 1998, when my bed time wasnt 9 o'clock anymore. My most hated team is the Mavs.

A lot of people hate the Jazz and the Lakers more, which is fine. But it doesnt make someone not a real Rockets fan if they dont hate the Lakers as much. But trust me I do still hate the Lakers when they play the Rockets in the regular season and playoffs.

Yea but I didn't mean that you're not a true fan for not hating the Lakers, I meant the rivalry in general isn't as heated. Probably because they're trying to three peat and we're trying to prove we're still a playoff team. But, when we play them, yes, I look forward to it for weeks. That I think describes the rivalry, we're not contending with them but it's always fun to watch and intense every time we play them. It used to be lakers/rockets when it was tmac/kobe and we all know where that went.

Now i think it's more of us vs. Jazz,Mavs, Spurs...

Yep, this would be the reason why. They want to get all the Chinese fans watching games right from the get go, and no better way to do that then Yao against the defending champs.

Although they problaby could get the Chinese fans with Yao against any team.

Did you guys forget the 7-game series we recently had with the Lakers? Go back and watch those vids of Kobe and Fisher using dirty tactics against the Rockets. Come back and tell me how its not heated any more. I feel more heat towards the Lakers than the Mavs and Spurs recently.

Lol, perhaps I should start a "Why do you hate EfftheJazz!!!? thread... :p

(I really hate Vujucic but your posts are screaming attention w****.)

And to those of you saying you would cheer for the Lakers against the Heat, and saying the Lakers/Rox rivalry is "not the same anymore," you make me sick. If you have been a true fan for more than a couple years and could make decisions that aren't based solely on petty jealousy then you would know the Lakers/Rox beef is as juicy as ever and that as a Rockets fan, the Heat are just another team in the east, nothing more.

I wonder how much it will shake the power rankings world when the Rockets beat them.

Without Andersen, how are we going to compete with the Lakers?

You cant call someone not a true fan for rooting for the Lakers vs. the Heat. Just because the Rockets played the Lakers two years ago in the playoffs does not necessarily mean that we are rivals.

People have different reasons for hating and not hating teams. I hate the Mavs be cause the school I go to are filled with arrogant Dallas fans who think they are the s**t. Until we prove we are healthy and can compete with the elite teams, we are not in the conversation with the Lakers yet.

So you saying someone is not a true fan for cheering the Lakers against the Heat is a real ignorant statement. It doesnt mean we are not a true fan but would rather see an actual team beat a bunch of arrogant attention whoring superstars. People have different reasons for rooting for one team or another.

The Rockets would move from 13th to 11th and 7th best in the West according to BSPN. BSPN'll proly say something like "Although Houston played a great game against the defending champs on their ring night they will still be borderline playoff team."

This proves the NBA people are idiot. Who wants to watch the Rockets-Lakers other than Rockets fans, Lakers fans, and die hard NBA fans. They should have scheduled a better first game in the West.
