that yard work was a piece of cake. I decided to help my hubby out doing yard work at 7pm last night. It was my first time doing everything. Good thing, I didn't have a big lawn to work with. Sorry husband, I will never underestimate the hard work of yard work. I'm so tired this morning! :(

What household duties do you think is a piece of cake for opposite sex?

I think cleaning the kitchen is a piece of cake for the opposite sex (as long as there isn't a mountain of dishes on the sink).

I used to assume ironing was really easy, but there's still some stuff I can't figure out how to press correctly.

Cooking, cleaning, laundry, most of that stuff I do for myself anyway. I've had some traumatic experiences with cleaning hair from drains (grew up with sisters), so to this day I refuse to clean bathrooms. Almost broke up with someone over this. But I don't think doing so particularly difficult.

I honestly can't think of a single thing that is "hard" that my wife does around the house. Time consuming and tedious, yes. Hard? No.

There's a reason why guys usually do the outside work. While it doesn't require a ton of muscle in most cases, more muscle makes certain things easier. And it's dirty, hot, sweaty work. Women tend to steer clear of these things.

That's why I've always said "nah, you do it" when R asks me if I want to do yard work. I decided I needed some cardio yesterday so I figured doing yard work would do it.

Cleaning kitchen is a PITA if I make a big dinner. It takes maybe 30 minutes to do EVERYTHING. So the rule around the house is if I cook, R cleans up and vice versa. He's a big baby and asks me to clean up the stove and counters while he do dishes.

I hate washing clothes! Folding clothes and socks are the worst. I wont do it.
Yard work is now paid for on a weekly basis. I'm a clean freak so I do dishes, shampoo carpet and vacuum. We have a lady who comes two times a week to help us.

cleaning stainless steel pans is hard as hell. if you cooked a chicken breast or a steak without enough oil you are in for some sore shoulders.

I've mowed, weed-eated, edged, and trimmed branches for my parents' corner lot house since I was 13. That's what you get when your dad is rendered nearly useless because of rheumatoid arthritis and you have no brothers. I would much rather work in the yard than do housework. Mowing is totally therapeutic for me. In fact, my friend (who is a female and also likes yard work) and I were throwing around the idea of starting a scantily-clad lawn care business. Best of both worlds.

Things I hate: Raking/bagging leaves, laundry, dishes/kitchen work. I can do bathrooms. If I have the money though, I will always get a maid to do my housework for me.

Nothing my wife does is that hard. I've done it all myself, and it isn't that bad. I do feel sorry for her being stuck at home with two kids all day, and I realized this weekend how fun it is to feed our youngest now that he is eating baby food.

Mowing the grass isn't that bad if you have a good lawnmower. If you don't, its extremely time consuming and hard work out in 90+ degrees.

finalsbound, that would be an interesting business venture but isn't it like an indecent exposure? Not sure how that works. I like yard work because it makes me to sweat and burn calories. I'm pretty sure I burned more calories than doing housework.

I guess it's the way I was raised. Dad always did yard work and housework was for us, ladies. I've never touched a lawn mower until yesterday so it was tough.

We do have a powered lawn mower but still tough for a beginner like me especially with the corners.

I'm surprised that there are men that think a housewife is an easy job. Being a housewife is not an easy job!

As much I hate doing it...Washing dishes is easy as ****. Just turn on the radio and time flies.

    Yard work...right now...really sucks.

well, let me edit the statement...I think being a housewife with young kids is a hard job.

The most hated housework is cleaning the restrooms. Blah.

It's not bad if you do it one time. If you do it everyday it's hard. Others would argue semantics and say it's not hard, it's just tedious. What would they consider hard then? Only technical work like building a rocket? Only heavy manual labor like construction?
Anyway, I agree that being a housewife is not an easy job.

Being a housewife is not a job. Being a stay at home mom is a tough job.

If you maintain the house and the yard on a routinely basis, its not hard. It also depends on how matriculate one can be.

    Yonkers, you're right...hard is a loosely term.

Being a housewife everyday is not a piece of cake. You have to take care of children, make sure dinner is ready for the husband and etc.

I'd never be one. I'll just go stir crazy.

I think 'housewife' and 'stay-at-home-mom' are being confused.

I think being single is harder than being a 'housewife' because you also have to work 8 hours a day.

I cook, clean, take out the trash, do laundry, dishes, run errands, etc. AND go to a job.

Now, I think being a 'single-custodial parent-homeowner' trumps all of it.
