It comes to mind that the World Championships is a great place to see whats going on in other Countries. It might behoove the Rocks to consider the possibility that the couple of roster spots might be filled by talent just exposed to them at these Games. Did you notice anybody who might be available, that will fit the Rox needs? Like in the China v NZ. China had a guy scoring 33 pts, who is he? Also who is the guy on NZ team also getting 33. Sever players looked quite good on the Brazil team.

Theres not one guy who I'd pull out of that heap pile. If you love foreign basketball that much, be happy and count your blessings knowing that the Rockets have a player from, Venezuala, China, Italy, and Compton. What more do you want. The season cannot get here soon enough because man-oh-man you need a taste a real basketball without these sissy international rules where the three point line is moved in, and where they actually have a thing called interior defense. Except for Collier, the players on this team are far more superior than these fellas your wetting your pants over. On second thought, yeah bring a few of these foreign chaps on in for training camp, and let Kenny Thomas and Griffin introuduce these chumps to a real elbow.

Some fellas need to go to the front page and read the players bios and touch up on their knowledge of the current Rocket players before getting them self in a frenzy and jumping into that foreign cess pool. The Rockets have a hell of a team as it is. Have some respect for the rooks and the bench guys, who because of some season sending injuries, found themselves thrown right into the fire last year. For the most part these guys grinded and battled, making most of the games pretty damn comptetitve. We have five key new players coming back -- a healthy Francis will make it six -- lets not rearrange our whole team just yet just because a few international guys can knock down a few WNBA threepointers.

    teknokid,

First of all Im ecstatic about the additions of Ming and Nachbar. I love the international flavor on our team, i was just telling my brother this the other day. Dude I dont get offended. When i was responding to Yettis post there was no scowl on my face, my face was smiling. What I want know is if Yetti followed the Rockets last year and whether he knows anything about the current group of players; especially since he is so ready to replace them. I want to know who he wants to replace.

Im not going to even respond to that idiot below you.

Texas Stroke:- The Rox should at all times be looking to improve. I was thinking that the Rox should bring a few of these guys into training camp and see how they do against Brown, Maddox Torres, Collier and Morris. There is just a chance that a diamond in the rough might be found! It should not bother you where a player comes from, only that it might make the Rox better! You do sound very Nationalistic are you?

    Yetti,

No man im not nationlaisitc. A piece of cloth is a piece of cloth, I neither cry nor jump for joy over it. though I do think your overestimating the international players abilites while underestimating the current Rocket players abiltiies. Im with you on improving the Rox though. But remember, Mo Taylor, Glen Rice, and Francis were injured last year. Next year these guys will be ready to go with the addition of three new draft picks. Thats a team that is six more players deep than it was last year. Hey Im ready to rock n' roll with the team as it is. Im already stoked. But if you think were in dire need of more talent then hey knock your scouting self out. ;)

Injuries are sum excuse for a team not to make into the playoff... Look at the raptor last season, they made it without vince carter... If they can make it why cant the rox.....

First of all dude can post as many times as he wants if he is saying something.

Texas Stoke what in the hell are you talking about? I think it was pretty clear that Luis Scola is a hell of alot better than Mo Taylor. If we had been paying better attention to international talent we might have been able to move a glen rice or Taylor to get Scola. Right now we would be looking like geniuses. Dumping those fat contracts for a blooming talent who plays hard and has all the fundamentals down.

You want to know who to replace? I will tell you who I would replace for Scola: Everyone except Ming, Griff, Francis, Mobes, and Nachbar. Take anyone else for Scola. And I am sure there are some other international players who would be worth such a trade as well.

Texas Stroke:-The Rox are scouting continually for better players, incase you don't know! At the moment there seems to be a need for a good Shooting Guard to back up Mobley. Torres may have improved enough from last year to get this spot. The back up should get decent playing time this season since Francis and Mobley are possibly playing less time. There is a need for a decent defensive/offensive guard that could play upto 20mins/gm.

I believe the Rockets scouts are doing what Yetti is suggesting here, watching hours after hours of tapes to try find a diamond in the rough international player to be the next Rocket. At least they know better about Mengke Bateer now. If Mengke Bateer can play pf, which unfortunately he can't :(, I'm more than willing to ship MoT for him. Too bad I didn't get to watch the Argentina game. :(

Le Grouper, I've never seen Luis Scola play. Im a big fan of Maurice Taylor though -- I especially like the way he gels with Francis and Mobley on the offense. But guys like Luis Scola, who are already under NBA contract, is not who Im talking about. Yettis trying to pull international fodder off of teams just because they happen to have a few good games. It's like he's saying: 'a guy from brazil scores 30pts...wooohoo...lets invite him to training camp'. I respect Yetties opinion, I just find what he was saying a bit funny, because I think he may be putting to much into all this international hoopla, imo.

Texas Stroke:- I'm not trying to pull anything! All I was asking is if any Members had an opinion on any of the WBC standouts, that they might be worth the Rox consideration! Please do not interpret my post as anything else! Lets keep it simple.

See, this is what Im talking about. Why would you be willing to ship Maurice Taylor for Mengke Bateer? Man Im a fan of the Houston Rockets not of Ming or Just Francis. I get the feeling a good deal of you new guys are just fair weather fans -- fans of a certain player and not the team itself. You see Im just trying to understand where you're coming from when you say things like the quote up above. The picture is getting clearer. I just wish you guys would wait to the season starts and learn about the excellent talent we have before searching to replace them with international fodder.
