What purpose does it serve? I think it would be nice to have you license be used as your Voter Registration as well. Maybe find a spot to put your SSN on it Rocket River just tired of being carded down let's quish them together somewhat
It has all kinds of info on it. I can't remember what, but at the store, we use it to see if you have good checks or bad checks.
Transportation Code, sec. 521.126 prohibits DPS from including on the magnetic strip any information except what is printed on the license and a physical description of the licensee. DPS must ensure that the information is used only for law enforcement orgovernmental purposes
Interesting side note, I've heard that it basically scans your info for a "Police Officer" who might be giving you a ticket and that if you disable this magnetic strip with a magnet most cops won't bother to type in the information. Not that policemen are lazy or that I would do this but it is a tip.
