Some of the funnest things I read out the article. IMO thier barely gonna been a .500 ball club with him and maybe better without him. But the funniest thing is if Mcgrady goes to Chicago, they "will" only get about half of what he"s got, bank on it. Be careful what you wish for.
McGrady is a cancer. That is entirely the point, because if he doesn't become a starter, he will piss, whine, moan ...and hurt the overall team. Right now, the guy is a certifiable cancer......and that is why no one has signed him up. He is the NBA's version of TO. DD
It is when the team very explicitly lays out that they want assurances that he will happily accept a minimal role off the bench for the duration of the season. Tracy running his mouth about earning a starting spot makes it clear that he doesn't plan on being a bench player at all. Given the hissy fit he had in December, given Iverson's tantrum as a Grizzly, the Bulls are wary of bringing in a guy that may not check his personal agenda and focus on what the team wants.
Definitely. He affected a lot of posters psychologically when things went bad in Houston. Now they're ravenous. I hated him in '09 when we went to war without him in the playoffs, but I don't see how its useful to wish him ill now that he's gone.
The fans owe Tmac nothing...... Everyone gets to make up their own mind about the guy. I don't personally hate him but I think he is one of the most selfish guys ever to lace em up for Houston and glad we got rid of him. DD
So the crazy folks over in the Bulls organization are over-reacting? Tracy might not get a job b/c of his MOUTH driven by his EGO.
Only difference though is that TO is a HOF player when he retires and McGrady won't be. He'll just be a guy that was known as being very talented but fell short in the mental area of the game.
Don't know why a team like chicago does not sign him. He can definitely help that team especially when the playoffs comes. He will be a very good offensive weapon. Well, I sure wish him well and I hope he can sign with a good team that has a chance to advance late in the playoffs.
Not sure what the Bulls are doing, if they think they can beat Miami without another scorer or playmaker they are crazy.
Bulls haven't ruled out T-Mac As of Friday morning, Chicago had not completely ruled out the signing of Tracy McGrady. Miami’s signing of Eddie House extinguished one of the Bulls’ other prime options and thus helped keep alive the possibility of McGrady scoring the deal from the Bulls that he so badly wants, as chronicled here. Chicago, though, continues to look at other options such as Keith Bogans and Roger Mason. Sources close to the process, as they did Monday after McGrady’s workout and sit-down with team officials, continue to describe the prospect of a T-Mac signing as “unlikely” after he spoke at length -- to the media and apparently those officials as well -- of his intent to try to force his way into a prominent role with the Bulls when they were looking for him to show a blanket willingness to accept a limited role. If the Bulls ultimately do relent and commit to a T-Mac experiment, since they do need another scoring threat on the perimeter, it’s believed that they will insist on McGrady accepting a non-guaranteed deal for next season so they can let him go at any time without financial hesitation if they deem the experiment to be failing. http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/18672/latest-buzz-shaq-t-mac-more That's some stiff competition for T-slack.
A no guarantee contract sends a message to T-Mac that he'll be gone the first second he becomes a distraction. Talk about a short leash.
I really thought he would be taking a minimum contract with the Heat or Lakers to ride somebody's coat tails to a ring.
wow honestly mcgrady needs to look into a mirror the guy isnt the player her was 5 years ago when he was traded to the Rockets. even after the surgery if his body does hold up and allows him to play he is still one of the top 10-15 players at the SF position in the league. Thats how much talent he has. The guy can still play he just cant play like he once did thats all. Maybe after the training he did this year he may feel he will be able to but the guy is on the bottom rung again and needs to show he can climb up. The quotes he had with the media shows at least to me the guy hasnt learned a thing. He acted like him being with the Bulls was a foregone conclusion, but it wasnt. They want one thing out of him and thats being their "6th man" and he is talking about fighting for a starting role. You know that Thibs probably knows all about the McGrady drama during his time here in Houston and warned the Bulls FO about it. Thats where the whole non-guaranteed deal comes in. After the past 2 seasons of what still should have been his prime were thrown away due to poor decisions and not properly (if at all) rehab the guy went from being a superstar to having to fight over a contract deal against the likes of Keith Bogans and Roger Mason Jr. Hell the Clippers decided to sign Brian Cook over him. Brian Cook! If the above situation doesnt knock any sense into McGrady's head I am not sure what will. People talk about the terrible people LeBron James has around him, McGrady is the same way. Its a damn shame to see a once in a lifetime type talent like McGrady just fizzle out the way he did. I did enjoy watching him play despite my frustrations with him and I had hoped I'd be able to watch him play elsewhere next season, but that doesn't look like to be the case. Honestly if his body is fine now after 1.5 years of rehab/training and the only thing holding him back from getting a contract is his ego I really dont know what else to say. The guy went from possibly being one of the greatest to probably just a footnote in the record books. People will remember he was a scoring champ but 10-20 years from now how often do you hear people talking about Alex English, Bernard King, Dominique Wilkins in the same light as some of their contemporaries even though they were all scoring champions themselves. Somehow I feel that 10 years down the line there will be an ESPN outside the lines or something about McGrady and a further fall from grace after he finally leaves the NBA
http://blogs.suntimes.com/bulls/2010/07/rose_back_tracks_on_t-mac.html Rose back tracks on T-Mac By John Jackson on July 29, 2010 8:05 PM | Permalink | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0) After campaigning for the signing of Tracy McGrady a week ago, Derrick Rose had a different reaction Thursday when I asked him if he was upset now that it appears the Bulls have little interest in McGrady. "No, not really," Rose said after conducting a basketball camp at Joy of the Game in Deerfield. "Like I said before anything, I'm cool with the team I have right now. I think we have good youth on the team. We should be all right. "If [McGrady] comes or if he doesn't, we should be able to compete out there. That's up to the Bulls."
