The only issue with Montero is we have Castro and Wallace at the two positions he could play. We'd have to look into dealing either of those two to open up a spot for him -- but he very well may be worth it.

Montero projects as a 1B/DH, so we would presumably end up trading Wallace.

At this point, they are all prospects. Just collect as much talent as possible at whatever position you can get - they can always trade them to get better fits later on.

I agree. This organization just needs TALENT period. You can find a place for the players later on.

Bad lateral speed, from what I hear. You need less of that at 1B than 3B.

Anyway, this thread is great. Keeping me up-to-date without visiting 20 other websites!

Yeah, maybe we can land Montero and deal Wallace for Gose. :)

Wallace has a big rear end, for lack of a better way to put it. He isn't fat, so much as wide. I remember when he was drafted, there was a whole lot of talk about what a strange body type he had. It's funny that his weight is now listed at 205. His draft weight was listed at 245, and he looks the same.

The following is a link to his MLB.com draft report:

If Wade came out and said that we are going to trade Myers, Myers's trade value takes a hit.

Remember the experts were saying that the Astros were asking for too much and Oswalt would not be traded. Methinks that was just PR smoke to keep Oswalt's trade value high.

I would be shocked if Wade is not taking offers for Myers, as we speak.

On the radio last night after the Oswalt trade, when asked about trading Berkman, Wade said that Berkman was an Astro and it was his policy to not talk about potential trades or trade negotiations. When asked about Myers, he said he loved him and that he got a bad rap in Philly, and he was someone he'd like to see about locking up long term, and that "they'd (in context, I assume by 'they' he was speaking of himself and Brett's agent) had some conversations in that regard".

Seems to be decent chance Lance Berkman gets traded this afternoon. Yanks seem be leader, but Rays, others interested. #hounews

Montero would come in a package like the one noted before, I would LOVE to see Wade do something SMART like that.

Deal Berkman and Myers and maybe Kepp or Lyon for Gordon Beckham and Danks/Morel/Viciedo

May be pie in the sky, but I've got to think it would be hard for anyone to pass up Berkman and Myers in a deal together.
