Multiple DOCTORS (not Morey) told T-Mac that all he needed to do was strengthen his knee by playing and tolerating the pain. T-Mac went around LOOKING for a doctor to tell him he needed surgery, because he didn't want to play through the pain. Last season, he insisted on playing even though Rick steadily maintained he was no where near ready. We had a bunch of TOF's here denouncing Rick and saying that Rick was letting his ego getting in the way. Well guess what history told us? Rick was right and T-Mac went on to suck it up with the Knicks and is currently still unemployed. Besides, considering all the BS T-Mac pulled, if Morey did do anything, it was definitely well warranted.
Two words: Toronto + Game. He quit on the team. HE QUIT ON THE TEAM. He put himself before the team and the fans, and played at half-speed for selfish reasons. Then he buried the team on an interview with Jim Rome. He never watched tapes on the plane, he never got along with JVG, and he never lived up to his potential, which was to be one of the all-time greats. THAT'S why I hate him.
Anyone remember when T-Mac CARRIED US in the 1st half of Game 6 against Utah a couple years ago? <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/PSORtIrTOvc&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/PSORtIrTOvc&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> He just didn't have enough help.
His arrogance bothers me. His sense of entitlement bothers me. His lack of humility bothers me. His lack of common sense bothers me. -------But thats not enough for me to wish horrible things on the guy. Eventually, life will catch up to his character flaws. Thats just how it works. In 10 years none of this will matter, he wont be in the news, and he will be lucky to have a job announcing games somewhere or pretending to be a coach somewhere.
or he'll continue his philanthropy work and influence the world in ways other athletes should be doing when they aren't playing basketball it's funny to see me watch people hate tmac when his off the court doings should be a model for all athletes. he's going to be the next dikembe mutombo or close to it in terms of philanthropy work.
I respect what he has done but to compare him to Mutombo or even to say he is one of the great athlete/former athlete philanthropists is completely untrue.
I Do not hate him at all, I am pity at him. If he played half what he could in 2008-2009 playoff, Rockets could already beat Fakes. He opted out to fixed the question knee. It's typical unsuccessful story. Whar a sad story!
I've never honestly hated McGrady. Though the team never experienced any success with him on board, he was still a joy to watch. However, I was very disappointed when he had announced to Stephen A. Smith that he will be undergoing microfracture surgery on his knee and not telling the Rockets because at that point it finally did seem as if we had all the pieces to the puzzle to make a legitimate run at another title. As we've been saying since '95, "there's always next year."
Myself, like I'm sure everyone else here, has no idea what Tracy is really like personally. A DBag? Maybe? A good guy? Maybe? But simply as a basketball player, I liked him. It's a bit unfair to blame him for the playoff losses. His playoffs number are solid from Orlando to Houston(career 28.5ppg), not to take all the blame off him, but his supporting cast was never that great. Then you have the injuries......not much I have to say here, people get injured. And yeah, he had no business trying to play while injured, hobbling around and all. And you can argue the motivation for doing so...but maybe he just wanted to help the team win due to pressure. In addition, it's not like athletes ask to have injuries. Of course he has said some off-putting things in the media, no argument here on that. I'm aware it's the cool thing on CF to bash the guy, but I just think his time in Houston had plenty of cool moments....it was fun to watch. On a side note, I wonder if he still keeps in touch with Yao? Doubt it. But doesn't Franchise? Probably the better friendship.
Actually, i hate this thread more than McGrady right now. No dissin the OP or anything, its just that the thread won't disappear. Well since i'm here... I like McGrady and was excited to have him coming to the team. I just don't like how all of his departures end badly. All the little games he started playing made him look very childish.
i also remember us not really ever being much in the game. mcgrady does well with little pressure. the first half? where was he in the 2nd
when nobody played well, mcgrady was always there. but when the rest of the team showed up mcgrady was never to be found. thats why he never put us over the edge. he played his best games usually in losses
Because I defended him time and time again against family, friends, and simply anyone who mentioned or spoke negatively of him....He told us(fans and the media) that we WOULD be back in star form and he would have the last laugh....Excuse after excuse. Also the whole, "If I had Tim Duncan..." nonsense was totally disrespectfull, belittling to Tracy and the Rockets, and was very hard to swallow....The missed dunk attempt in Toronto was the nail in the coffin. Put so much energy and passion into supporting and vouching for this individual, he just slapped us (Fans, Rockets Community in the face. Sad and frowned upon this guy.
I hate Tracy McGrady because he is a quitter. If things are going bad, he sulks and gives even less effort. There is a reason why the Rockets got out of the first round without McGraddy. It's because when things were going bad, the other players picked each other up and kept playing hard. Not the case with McGrady, which is why that loser still hasn't gotten out of the first round. Will somebody please show the clip again of his effort versus the Raptors a couple years ago? That's the real McGrady. I love how he would cry saying he didn't have enough help, yet when he's out the team wins without him. We Rocket fans hate quitters. seeippen
