See Steve Francis, him and andersen have a lot in common. They're more's only mistakes.

David Andersen unleashed his anger on Yao-less Chinese National Team as he scored the GW lay-up last night. Aus beat china 64-63 at the Stankovic Continental Cup first round matchup.

    sign him back Morey!

I think they always want to go for it, as long as it is within budget.

Hayes is a small expiring contract, and has more value than Andersen, I think they may move him at the deadline too, who knows.

Doubt Andersen is that angry to be traded. In fact, I suspect he and his agent may even have requested a trade to a team with more availabe playing time. DA lost minutes to after the trade deadline with Jeffries and Hill coming in (Landry went out) and then he got a back injury (not sure if it prevented him from playing or just one of those nagging but not that serious injuries used as a reason to sit him to play new guys).

Anyhow, with Yao and Patterson and Miller added to the mix, Andersen's competition for minutes increased even more so it's probably benefitial to him to be traded.

No doubt about it, Andersen was not going to be playing in Houston in a contract year.

It was a good trade for all parties.

Going for what? What are they going for exactly? They havent nor will they get that guy. That guy is in denver and new orleans, not indy or philly. Those guys are upgrades to ariza for sure, but they dont propel the rockets to where they need to be.

Alexander clearly hopes to get a strong year out of Yao, at least a strong finishing kick, and wants to do what he can to produce that. Morey has been trying to accomodate his wishes. That's hard to do, but he's doing what he can and is probably not finished. We won't know that until the deadline. What would you have the organization do? Give up on the season, pack it in, trade what talent we have, which I consider to be quite a bit, for young prospects with "potential" and draft picks, going into full rebuild mode? That's sure as hell what I don't want.

what i dont get it is if all it cost was 1 million in cash why didnt toronto make the deal earlier involving miami and charlotte that would have sent chandler to houston? i though the hold up there was that they did not want to take back any additional salary

then again this is the raptors i guess we're talking about

I thought Charlotte was the team that killed that deal. There was something about that early that killed it. I can't remember what though.

My guess is that at the time of the trade Toronto wants to maximize the amount of the TPE that it would get, which, if they take back any money on that deal, would be less than the $14.5 mil salary that Bosh got. For example, Toronto taking Andersen would result in their TPE being only $12.0 million.

I believe those discussion happened at around 7/8/2010 and fell apart soon after. One significant thing happened later on: Toronto traded Turkoglu to PHX (Barbosa came back) creating a $2.7 million TPE. They used that $2.7 mil TPE to eat DA's salary, so the Bosh TPE remains at $14.5 mil.
