Read this: http://sites.google.com/site/toyotav6oillinescandal/ There is a rubber oil hose they used on V6 engines in Toyotas that WILL rupture...it's just a matter of when. They have been treating this issue hush hush as a "campaign" and not a recall because there is no safety issue involved (yea...right). My Toyota had the problem yesterday and I may have gotten lucky in that I caught it quickly (same day). The rubber oil line ruptured at 63k miles and oil was everywhere basically. The dipstick was bone dry. No warning light...no nothing. I didn't even notice any problems. I'm driving freeway speeds with an engine with severe oil loss...and that is not a safety hazard? Other people have had fires from it and have had problems with their engine locking up at high speed with the car shutting down. You would think Toyota learned a lesson about how to handle these things with their gas pedal/floor mat recalls but they are content in letting Toyota owners drive until it fails. They may have sent you a letter that doesn't emphasize how important this fix is...just that they will change it out when convenient for you. I don't recall getting one. I do know I had my car into the dealer enough times for them to fix it given this has been known about for a few years at least...and they did nothing to fix it or even mention it. Do yourselves a favor and, if you drive a Toyota with a V6, check it out to see if your model is among those listed for this "campaign". Don't wait for it to happen to you. I'm supposed to feel lucky that they are covering all the costs. They claim my engine passed the tests and isn't damaged...but I know for a fact that engine damage can crop up later post-fix. Also, don't let them give you a replacement rubber hose patch fix. You need the metal hose version. If you let it go, then you could be a victim and have to pay excessive fees for fixing your car...especially if you let it go on past warranty. They were...at one point...making customers pay to replace the line and for engine damage. Unbelievable.
no, you got it to act like a douche and tell the world you make a lot of money. That or you can't get chicks without it.
If I help any of you Toyota owners with this advice, then I deserve to be repped for it. I had to find out the hard way dammit!
Fed investigators are concluding the floor mat issue is a matter of user error. Not that I care. Cheers for the lower price on Toyotas!
I have a BMW, and every BMW owner knows the one thing you shouldn't be bragging about it is reliability. We get different problems more of the electric variety.
That's why I drive an Acura...i did have to get it taken to the dealership to get a recall fixed a couple of weeks ago.
We purchased a Toyota Camary last year & it has given us A LOT of problems! Do NOT buy a new Toyota!!!
Thanks for the smuck observation but that was not what I was implying at all (assuming you directed that at me and not the other "That's why I got a..." posters...lol). I'm trying to help other Toyota owners by getting them to do something Toyota is not doing...get your damn car in and have it fixed before it happens to you (or the impending time bomb goes off). Unbelievable.
